Week 1 - Eps 001-006

• Subtitle: I'll Learn to Become the Proprietress

• Synopsis: Natsumi Asakura, a 23-year-old girl, is on the training to become a pasty cook under her father Keigo. She goes to Iwate Prefecture with her boyfriend Masaki to celebrate his grandmother Katsuno’s 77th birthday. Katsuno is the proprietress of a famous long-established inn in Morioka City. On the next day of the celebration, Katsuno suddenly falls ill and asks Masaki to take over the inn business. Hearing Masaki say he wants to call off their engagement because he has decided to move to Morioka to follow Katsuno’s wish, Natsumi tells him that she wants to become a proprietress.

Week 2 - Eps 007-012

• Synopsis: Natsumi makes up her mind to become a proprietress, but Masaki says it is unrealistic and Keigo is totally opposed to her decision. Keigo says he will disown Natsumi if she goes to Morioka, but Natsumi follows her heart knowing it was not Masaki’s true feeling about their engagement. Meanwhile, Katsuno’s daughter-in-law Tamaki starts to preside over the inn on behalf of Katsuno. Natsumi’s sudden visit and asking for a job make everybody at the inn surprised. However, Katsuno gives Natsumi credit for her willingness and decides to bring her in as a serving lady. Natsumi’s lonely struggle begins.

Week 3 - Eps 013-018

• Synopsis: Natsumi boards at a coffee shop owned by Masaki’s friend Yujiro and starts working as a serving lady at the inn. Tamaki tells Tokie, the chief serving lady, to train Natsumi hard. With her usual cheerfulness, Natsumi gradually learns the job through mistakes. One day, a guest gets injured because of Natsumi’s failure to place a non-slip mat. Seeing Tamaki serve the guest faithfully with sincere apology, Natsumi becomes painfully aware of her inexperience. Hearing that the guest used to visit Hachimantai, a national park, with his late wife every year, Natsumi takes him to the place of memories, over opposition from Tamaki.

Week 4 - Eps 019-024

• Subtitle: A Parent's Feelings

• Synopsis: Tamaki and her son Shinichi feel uneasy to see Natsumi learn her job well. They persuade Shinichi’s wife Emiko into working at the inn, to pit her against Natsumi as a candidate for proprietress. One day, the two sons of Shinichi and Emiko run away from home, dissatisfied with lessened attention they receive from their mother. Seeing Shinichi scold his sons, Katsuno tells Tamaki and Shinichi to let Emiko concentrate on housekeeping and parenting, and declares that she will resume working as the proprietress.

Week 5 - Eps 025-030

• Subtitle: Have Faith

• Synopsis: Katsuno recovers from illness and returns to the inn. Tamaki, who has been acting as the proprietress, is displeased. One day, a Korean star visits the inn. He becomes friendly with Natsumi and asks her for help in locating his girlfriend. Natsumi and her friends at the boarding house manage to locate the girlfriend’s whereabouts and the Korean guest finally sees his girlfriend again just before he leaves Japan. Having seen their reunion, Natsumi determines to believe Masaki and wait for him in Morioka.

Week 6 - Eps 031-036

• Synopsis: Natsumi’s family in Yokohama is worried about her and visits the inn. Her parents pay their respect to Katsuno and ask for her continued support for Natsumi. But seeing Natsumi doing yard work and covered with mud, her father insists on taking her home.

Week 7 - Eps 037-042

• Subtitle: Giving Up Training to Be a Proprietress
• Air time: 2007-May-14 thru 2007-May-19 08:15-08:30 JST

• Synopsis: Natsumi becomes a housekeeping trainee at the inn. One day Natsumi takes the son of a guest to a festival where he suddenly falls ill because of his allergic reaction to buckwheat. Although Natsumi knew of his allergy and took extra precautions, his mother says that she will sue the inn. As a result, Natsumi’s trainer is fired, Katsuno resigns, and Tamaki is demoted to the chief housekeeping staff. Having not been penalized, Natsumi provokes employees’ antipathy and leaves Morioka.

Week 8 - Eps 043-048

• Subtitle: Returning Home in Despair
• Air time: 2007-May-21 thru 2007-May-26 08:15-08:30 JST

• Synopsis: Natsumi returns to Yokohama after giving up Okami training. Masaki finds her and takes her to his apartment. Natsumi unconsciously goes to her home in Yokohama but her father, Keigo, refuses to allow Natsumi to come home. He claims that he can’t house a daughter who is a quitter, while Masaki’s ex-girl friend claims that Natsumi has no right to marry him since she has quit her training.

Week 9 - Eps 049-054

• Subtitle: 中途半端じゃ終われない

• Synopsis: Natsumi insists on breaking off the engagement so that Masaki could take over the inn, but Masaki wishes to marry her and live together in Yokohama. Whilst Natsumi receives a thank-you letter from the boy whom Natsumi took to the festival and fell ill. His mother is still angry with Natsumi, but for the first time the boy voices his anger on his mother. Although the mother is shocked, she appreciates Natsumi giving her the opportunity to come face-to-face with her son. She tells Katsuno that she will drop the suit against the inn.

Week 10 - Eps 055-060

• Subtitle: 職人気質

• Synopsis: Natsumi comes back to Morioka, being resolved to become accomplished Okami, not because she is engaged to Masaki but because she herself wants to. Natsumi tells Katsuno that she will break off her engagement to Masaki and asks to let her work at the inn again. However, Katsuno does not listen to her. Learning that a teakettle for an important ceremony has not arrived yet since Shinichi has made the ironware craftsman angry, Natsumi asks Katsuno to give her a chance for the Okami training if she gets the teakettle.

Week 11 - Eps 061-066

• Synopsis: Natsumi’s Okami training at Kagamiya restarts. Katsuno officially resigns as senior Okami and Tamaki gains total control over the inn as Okami. Tamaki tells the chief serving lady to train Natsumi hard, aiming at driving her out from the inn. One day, Tamaki’s second son Koji introduces his girlfriend Ayaka to his family. Ayaka is from a family that runs a first-class Japanese restaurant so she is good at customer service and knowledgeable about tea ceremony and flower arrangement. She starts working at the inn becoming Natsumi’s rival.

Week 12 - Eps 067-072

• Subtitle: 裏の心と表の心

• Synopsis: Natsumi becomes isolated from the inn employees, being accused of naming Ayaka, Tamaki’s second son Koji’s girlfriend, as the person who has stolen the union dues. Katsuno tells Natsumi that her careless words have hurt the employees’ feelings. Feeling regret for what she has done, Natsumi apologizes to her coworkers. Meanwhile, Ayaka asks Tamaki for training to become Okami.

Week 13 - Eps 073-078

• Synopsis: Natsumi is uneasy competing with Ayaka for the Okami post, but she believes that the training is essentially for her benefit. While some employees are being drawn toward Natsumi, seeing her conscientious effort in the garden, one day Natsumi and Ayaka are asked about a broken dish. Although they both say they don’t know anything about it at first, Natsumi says she did it sensing something suspicious in Ayaka’s attitude.

Week 14 - Eps 079-084

• Subtitle: 二人の誓い

• Synopsis: Masaki returns to Morioka for good and starts working at the inn, where he is greeted with his childhood friend Ayaka. He learns that Ayaka is his brother, Koji's girl friend, and that she and Natsumi are both being trained to become Okami. Meanwhile, tension builds up between Katsuno and Tamaki; Katsuno wishes Natsumi and Masaki to take over the inn, whereas Tamaki is pushing for Ayaka and Koji.

Week 15 - Eps 085-090

• Synopsis: Natsumi has been more diligent in her work since Masaki came back. One day, Kagamiya learns that a researcher of a tour guidebook, disguised as an ordinary guest, is to visit and rate the inn. Tamaki decides to entrust the decision on who should become the junior Okami based on the evaluation of the researcher. Natsumi serves a suspicious guest who makes unreasonable requests, but does her best to meet them.

Week 16 - Eps 091-096

• Subtitle: 競い合いの決着

• Synopsis: Natsumi's hospitality is praised by a tour magazine. Ayaka reveals her scheme to Natsumi to drive her out from the inn, but Natsumi encourages Ayaka to compete for the position together. The next day, Ayaka admits to Tamaki her defeat and leaves Kagamiya. Meanwhile, Masaki starts to reform Kagamiya but faces another trouble.

Week 17 - Eps 097-102

• Subtitle: 柾樹の孤立

• Synopsis: Masaki launches his reform plans at Kagamiya by firstly asking the master chef to review the long-going purchasing method of foodstuffs. Natsumi is worried about the friction between Masaki and the employees. The master chef, unwilling to follow Masaki’s command, quits. Koji replaces the master chef, while his whole family helps out at the kitchen.

Week 18 - Eps 103-108

• Subtitle: 遠野への旅

• Synopsis: Natsumi visits Tono so that she could write an article for a tourist magazine, but she accidentally falls in to the river and is helped by Masayoshi, a man who just happens to pass by. Masayoshi, his wife and five children ask her to stay the night. The next day, Masaki comes to Masayoshi’s house to pick her up, where Masayoshi encounters his son, Masaki. Although Masayoshi apologizes for leaving him in the past, Masaki refuses to accept his apology.

Week 19 - Eps 109-114

• Subtitle: 女将の決断
• Air time: 2007-Aug-6 thru 2007-Aug-11 08:15-08:30 JST (Aug-6 - 08:35 to 08:50)

• Synopsis: Masaki and his father Masayoshi finally reconciles due to Natsumi’s effort. Meanwhile, Katsuno falls ill. Tamaki feels that Katsuno does not have much long to live and rushes the ceremonial exchange of betrothal gifts for Natsumi and Masaki. At the ceremony, Tamaki announces that Natsumi to be the next Okami, and Masaki the successor of Kagamiya. Shinichi is shocked to hear the news.

Week 20 - Eps 115-120

• Synopsis: Shinichi is upset after learning that Masaki will be the successor of Kagamiya. Tamaki asks Shinichi to accept the decision for the future of Kagamiya, but he resists. Katsuno gives all of her Kagamiya stocks to Shinichi reciting the importance of the family’s unification. Finally, the day of the wedding arrives. Although Katsuno is not feeling well, Tamaki urges the family to go to the wedding.

Week 21 - Eps 121-126

• Subtitle: 加賀美屋の一番長い日
• Air time: 2007-Aug-20 thru 2007-Aug-25 08:15-08:30 JST

• Synopsis: In the morning of Natsumi and Masaki’s wedding, Katsuno’s condition worsens. Katsuno’s son, Masayoshi, suddenly appears. Although Tamaki is aware of Katsuno’s condition, she decides to not to tell any one and proceeds with the wedding. After the ceremony, Katsuno asks Natsumi to stay with Masaki forever. During the wedding party, Katsuno gasps her life away with Heiji and Masayoshi at her side.

Week 22 - Eps 127-132

• Subtitle: 悲しみに負けない笑顔

• Synopsis: Natsumi starts working as Okami under Tamaki. Natsumi looks cheerful on the outside, but Tamaki is worried and asks Tokie to assist Natsumi. Natsumi moves to Kagamiya to live with Masaki, who is also worried about her. One day, Natsumi makes a mistake and offends a patron.

Week 23 - Eps 133-138

• Subtitle: 不気味な影

• Synopsis: Natsumi bakes a cake to welcome the guests, while Masaki plans to better improve the inn to attract more guests. Shinichi, feeling incompetent, starts indulging himself in alcohol. One day, Shinichi meets a stranger, Akiyama, at a bar. Upon hearing Shinichi’s reconstruction plan, Akiyama suggests to Shinichi that he will lend him money for Kagamiya’s stock as collateral, Shinichi accepts without his family’s consent.

Week 24 - Eps 139-144

• Subtitle: 加賀美屋の危機
• Air time: 2007-Sept-10 thru 2007-Sept-15 08:15-08:30 JST

• Synopsis: Shinichi announces his Kagamiya reconstruction plan which includes borrowing money from Akiyama. Tamaki and Natsumi oppose to his plan, while his wife is in favor of it. Meanwhile, Masaki finds that Akiyama is a corporate raider backed by foreign funds. Tamaki orders Shinichi to stop the business dealing immediately, but as collateral he has already given half of his stocks to Akiyama.

Week 25 - Eps 145-150

• Synopsis: Akiyama calls upon Tamaki to accept the reform plan to turn Kagamiya into an inexpensive inn, and announces that he will remove Kagamiya family from management if they do not obey. To make things worse, the employees leaves Kagamiya to a well paid inn. At the same time, Natsumi receives news that her father has fallen ill, and goes back to Yokohama. Tamaki at first opposes to the plan, but finds that she has no choice but to accept.

FINAL WEEK - Eps 151-156

• Synopsis: Natsumi proclaims to Akiyama that Kagamiya’s financial condition will recover. Ayaka and Yujiro come to her rescue, while guests who have visited Kagamiya in the past including a Korean star and an economic analyst support Kagamiya. The family at Kagamiya sees a promising sign, but Akiyama’s people force the suspension of business.
