DramaWiki talk:List of common misspellings

"broadcasted" is not a misspelling
According to my English dictionary the verb "broadcast" can be used both regularly and irregularly. (But the verb "cast" is irregular only.) That's why it is listed in the list of irregular verbs as "broadcast - broadcast(ed) - broadcast(ed)". Thus, I wouldn't consider it a misspelling. - Technically, broadcasted by itself is not an incorrect spelling. But unfortunately, the wiki software doesn't provide a facility for storing incorrect grammar patterns (or maybe they do???) That's why broadcasted is listed here. The use of it postfixed with by is what makes it grammatically incorrect. When I first came across this use on DramaWiki, it didn't sound right. I ran it by my mother who's a college English instructor, and she confirmed it was incorrect. I haven't seen broadcasted used in any other way on DramaWiki, so I'm pretty confident that 99.2 percent of the occurance of broadcasted will be followed by by. Groink 14:33, 20 Jul 2006 (EDT)
