Synopsis
Two part dramatisation of Nobel Prize winning author Kawabata Yasunari's semi- autobiographical short story. Set in the pre-war years, a young high school student -- the high school being the equivalent of a modern university, and any student there virtually promised an elite career -- is holidaying in the hills of Izu when he comes across a group of traveling dancers. The student and the youngest of the dancers, an innocent teenage girl, become mildly attracted to each other, but after a few days of traveling together, their ways must part.
