First, I think we should be tracking staff listed under "planning" (企画), as in many cases they are given the same emphasis as producers/directors in credits. Second, I don't think it's appropriate to classify Mishiro Shinichi as a producer in this case, as he is not listed in the credits or on the official site as what is typically given the title "producer" (プロデューサー). If the drama saw it fit to give him a separate title, I think we should be as faithful to that as possible. In fact, I see the typical production cast titles (original writing, screenwriter, producer, director, music, narrator) as guidelines... If I see something in the credits that is important but does not necessarily fit our "guidelines", I think we should be bending the guidelines to fit it, not trying to force it into categories which may not necessarily be appropriate. For the same reason, I listed the "musical producer" (音楽プロデューサー) and "music" (音楽) titles separately for Utahime. If you just lump them all together as "music," you lose the distinction between the two.
Those are my thoughts... Hopefully someone else can chime in. -- Quashlo 16:45, 6 Jan 2008 (CST)
- Where will it stop? The intent of DramaWiki from Day 1 is to track credits your average fan is interested in. When speaking of a given drama, most fans speak only of: director, producer, screenwriter, cast and theme song. We're not striving here to be the equivalent of IMDB - as they track even the guy who delivers pizza to the director, as the director must consume food to get his brain going (exaggeration there, but you get my point.) We also don't want to over-categorize on DramaWiki, which is why we chose not to categorize things like genre, renzoku/tanpatsu, etc. Groink 16:59, 6 Jan 2008 (CST)
- I'm not advocating listing the entire staff, as nobody would really care who does the lighting (no offense to the lighting people). But if someone is given the same treatment in the crediting of the drama as any of the staff you mentioned above (producer, screenwriter, etc.), then I think we should include him or her, with an appropriate title. We don't have to make a new wiki category (someone who is credited as 企画 can be categorized as a JProducer, as they are very similar positions), but I don't see why we can't make the distinction between 企画 and プロデューサー in the drama article itself. -- Quashlo 18:02, 6 Jan 2008 (CST)
