Romanization of Japanese

For the most part, we use a special modified Hepburn style for Romanizing names:

• No differentiation between long and short vowels (no macron)
• No apostrophes (e.g., manyoshu not man'youshuu)
• Our romanization style is usually usurped if there is an officially accepted way of Romanizing the person's name, e.g. as given in his or her official profile.
