Biography

Are you not allowed biographies? --Dana 24:56, 14 Aug 2009 (CDT)

Not if they are copied word for word from crunchyroll. So stop, you're plagiarizing someone elses work without their permission and without properly citing. --Pineapple 04:16, 15 Aug 2009 (UTC)
Oh no no I made that biography myself. I also edit the work in CR in fact I took that from my fan group JunKi Global. I am dfr529 there, so it is mine. --Dana 25:30, 14 Aug 2009 (CDT)
I will make you happy and re-write the Aoi bio tomorrow okay Pinkpineapple. I am sorry for screwing up your articles. --Dana 26:20, 14 Aug 2009 (CDT)

Dana, look at the situation from Pinkpineapple and my point of view. How are WE supposed to know that you and df4529 are of the same person? Is there any proof? We can't just take your word for it. If you have a profile on CrunchyRoll as df529, make an entry in your profile that you are AKA Dana. Once you do that, provide a link to your CR's profile via your User page, and THEN you can re-use df529's works on DramaWiki. Until you do this, consider copies from CR as plagiarism. Groink 05:18, 15 Aug 2009 (UTC)

http://www.crunchyroll.com/user/dfr529 Here is my CR profile and it says a.ka. Dana in the Tags section. Do you believe me now Groink and Pinkpineapple? --Dana 14:49, 15 Aug 2009 (CDT)

Hadaka no Taisho Horoki

I noticed you made changes to several artist pages regarding this drama. Please complete the edit by adding these artists into the Hadaka no Taisho Horoki article itself. Groink 17:16, 8 May 2007 (CDT)

Never mind, I made the additions. Groink 17:26, 8 May 2007 (CDT)

Asami Reina

I noticed that you removed Asami Reina's credit to DBSK's music video. Why did you do that? I see other pages (e.g. Miyazaki Aoi) have such headlines too. - Rikayla 12:45, 11 Aug 2007 (CDT)

I removed the section because it doesn't belong in artist articles, and as per the style guide, such sections shouldn't be made. The only sections that should go into an artist article are: profile, tv shows, movies, endorsements, recognitions, trivia, and theme songs sung if applicable. Also just because other articles may be have such sections doesn't mean it's correct. --Pineapple 12:56, 11 Aug 2007 (CDT)

Joshi Deka!

Great way of handling the guests! Groink 00:26, 6 Nov 2007 (CST)

Kaze na Bankara

Please move to Kaze no Bon kara. Thanks! -- Quashlo 22:48, 20 Feb 2008 (CST)

Replying to the message you left me

Well... I'm sorry about that. Hatsu Kare was in the Movies section of all those artist, and it's NOT a film. It's a net drama recently released on DVD, so I thought it was better in the TV Shows section than in the Movies section. Anyway, what should I do then with Hatsu Kare and 100 Scene no Koi in the Mizushima Hiro page? They are net and mobile dramas, but are released on DVD. I would like Hiro's information to be as complete as possible, that's all. Edit: Sorry, I forgot to tell who I am. Arimi

Keep in mind that the word "movie" doesn't just mean you need to walk in a theater to watch it. So until we create the infrastructure for OVDs and net-based shows, continue to store them under the movies section. Groink 20:47, 18 Mar 2008 (CDT)
OK. Then may I add these two dramas to the Movies section? And should I specify they are net and mobile dramas somehow? Arimi
Yes, indicate the movie as such. Groink 22:36, 18 Mar 2008 (CDT)

ORIGINAL banners preferred

Please don't take the following personally. It really should be read by all editors, but the rv of the Jodan ja nai! banner just reminded me to convey the following... Since day one, us editors here are trying to keep DramaWiki as original as possible. This goal affects all components: the synopses and the graphics. Never have we said that we prefer 100-percent stolen images off the official web sites, over originally created banners. If you've noticed my work on banners, I try my best to take parts of the graphics from the official sites, remove the time/dates and other clutter, re-arrange and even add the romaji. I do the same with most of my correlation charts. If an editor does not have the Photoshop skills to produce an original banner or other imagery, that does not mean the uploaded image is preferred over a home-made, DramaWiki original image. Please think of the possible legalities DramaWiki might face if, for example, TBS visits DramaWiki and demand all their graphics be removed from here. But don't take this as a full-on ban of copyrighted imagery. We do allow images from other web sites IF it is the only thing we have at the time. We also do allow photos of artists to be taken from their respective talent agencies because the talent agencies encourage free-use of their images (exception is Johnny's Jimusho.) But we still do not have a clear indication that the TV networks allow the same freedom of their images. "Fair use" laws differ from country to country. That's the point I'm trying to convey here - originally produced banners using a combination of original art and additional changes by DramaWiki editors are preferred over exact screenshots taken from a web site. Matsumoto Jun (female) drama listing

On 2007-Jul-27, you added a huge list of dramas to this artist's list. But, you did not go to each of the dramas and add her name. Please do so, otherwise I'll remove the listings that do not link back to her. Groink 23:29, 1 Sep 2008 (CEST)

Boku no Imoto

A few days ago, hackers invaded DramaWiki and FansubWiki. Ruroshin had to erase the server and restore from an earlier backup. Your creation of Boku no Imoto probably happened after the backup and before the hack. Therefore, I'd check your "my contributions" list to see what other editing efforts might have been lost. Groink 00:29, 18 Feb 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up, Groink. I wasn't aware of the the attack. --Pineapple 19:22, 18 Feb 2009 (UTC)

Rating numbers in articles

Whenever a rating value is less than 10-points, please add a "zero" to the left of the value. Ex: 09.8, 07.4, 08.0... This is to keep the decimal point in the rating values aligned. Even if there are no values in the table higher than 9.9, keep using this format. The only exception is the seasonal drama listing, as we've stuck a parameter in the table to keep the values right-justified.

You may not realize this, but there is an ergonomic reason for this. When the eye is scanning through a list of numbers vertically, the eye becomes fixated on the decimal point. When the decimal point is not aligned, the eye starts moving rapidly back and forth trying to follow the decimal point, causing eye fatigue which also causes things like headaches. We were doing this until Autumn 2008 - when you took over the rating numbers. Groink 01:54, 1 Jun 2009 (UTC)

Well, I think it was me who has removed all those leading zeros along with some other redundancy when I did some global text optimizations directly in the database. There will be better ways to justify columns of rating tables in the future. So, I recommend not to add those otherwise redundant zeros. --MoerkJ talk 07:00, 6 Jun 2009 (UTC)
Until the table template starts including the right-justified parameter... Seriously, I suffer from migraines, and they're triggered quite easily, caused by my eyes constantly moving left and right because of the decimal point not being aligned. It is just like when one looks at a TV while the screen wobbles by interference - your eyes attempts to stabilize the video, and it cannot. I also don't think it was part of your clean-up because the "zeros" were no longer being added when Pinkpinapple took charge of the ratings for the Japanese dramas. Everything before Autumn 2008 still has the zeros. Groink 08:01, 6 Jun 2009 (UTC)
Well, then let's keep the zeros until we have upgraded the software which supports more complex programmed templates to replace the tables and fix such formatting issues. IMO, all currently existing solutions for decimal point alignment are too complicated and not practicable for direct use.
Oh btw, the cleanups inside the database I mentioned (i.e. the removal of leading zeros on some pages) were limited to a few pages only and are not visible as user edits. And these cleanups have modified Pinkpineapple's older edits as well, because the changes were applied to the actual version of the page(s) and all its revisions. Sorry for all the confusion. --MoerkJ talk 13:07, 6 Jun 2009 (UTC)

Haha no Okurimono

What was the reason for rearranging the cast list? I took the order of the cast list from the official site. --Ina 21:27, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Are you seriously bothered by the fact that I rearranged it? The story focuses on the two mothers of a couple that are about to get married. I merely rearranged it to have the leads at the top. It's not that big a deal. --Pinkpineapple 21:39, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
I was bothered because I had a reason for the order, and I think the synopsis is a bit short to make judgements like this. Staying with the listing of the official site make much more sense. Even judging by the synopsis the couple might be more important than the husbands.--Ina 21:45, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Since this seems bother you so much, then change it back. I really don't see it as that big an issue either way. --Pinkpineapple 21:59, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Toyohara Kosuke - News sokuho wa nagareta

First, I understand about removing "Sweet Room." I was unsure about keitai dramas, but figured it would be removed if it shouldn't be here... now I know. "News sokuho wa nagareta" is not actually a Fuji TV drama, however. It's the first original drama produced by their relatively new pay channel, NEXT. My understanding is that it's like WOWOW. I think listing it as simply "Fuji TV" is not accurate, in fact it's deceptive because no one is going to find it on Fuji's schedule. With NEXT moving into the realm of original dramas, should it have a category as WOWOW does? --Toyotaku 22:15, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

I understand now. If that is the case, then a new category for "Fuji TV NEXT" can be made once the article for the drama has been created. --Pinkpineapple 22:57, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Do you want me to start a page with the information I have or wait for someone fluent in Japanese to create the page (for "News sokuho wa nagareta," that is)?--Toyotaku 23:25, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
If you're comfortable with it, you can go ahead and create it with the information you have. If something needs to be edited I (or another editor) will go ahead and make whatever necessary changes. Also, since you are creating the drama article I'll go ahead and create that "Fuji TV NEXT" category. --Pinkpineapple 23:33, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Will get all my info together then and get the page created. Thanks! OH! about the image... the only I have of the cast is from a Sanspo article... too dodgy copyright-wise to use?--Toyotaku 23:40, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Does it have a Sanspo logo or some sort copyright symbol? If it does you can just crop it out and upload it, but if you can't then just forget it. Also, if the quality isn't great, blurry or what have you, than you probably shouldn't upload it. We can just wait to find an official banner/promo or, if you can you can make a screen cap of the title card, that should be sufficient. --Pinkpineapple 23:54, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I got the page up. The biggest problem I had was with the production staff, specifically the role they played in it. I don't have a good enough capacity with the language to make the distinctions in producers, but I thought it would help whoever can if I had the names already there. As for the image, it's the only thing we have at the moment... not the best, but I think servicable enough. I'm hoping we are able to see this first effort for NEXT and as soon as I can get my hands on a banner or title image, I will replace it. Also, wasn't too sure how to indicate that new episodes will air every other Wednesday so left it at bi-weekly.--Toyotaku 02:56, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Great job with the page! I made a few minor edits but everything else looks fine. The only thing that's left to be done is to link the rest of the artists and production staff to the page (I'd appreciate if you could do that). I will add this drama to the Japanese Drama Season - Autumn 2009 article so that others are aware of it. --Pinkpineapple 03:09, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks... for the feedback, the help, adding it to new drama season, and most especially all the hard work you do on the wiki. I'll take care of the artist/staff links.
