Moving wiki server and software upgrade[edit]

After moving the forum server last week both our wikis DramaWiki and FansubWiki will also move to a new server. At the same time we upgrade our software to MediaWiki version 1.20. During the migration the access to our wikis will be restricted. As soon as the move is complete the temporary IP-addresses links to the new server will be announced. You'll have to access the new server though these temporary links until the name servers are updated. --MoerkJ talk 12:41, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

The server migration is complete now. There are still a few minor things that need tweaking but editing should work now. The file upload works but is still disabled. At the moment I don't know when DNS is working with the new IP address. --MoerkJ talk 16:58, 16 November 2012 (UTC)

Update 2

The nameservers should point to the new server now when using and The links with the IP address don't work anymore. If your nameservers still point to the old server then you can fix that by adding the following two lines to your hosts file.

The server response may be a little slower during the next hours due to page caching. And the file upload is enabled again. --MoerkJ talk 02:29, 21 November 2012 (UTC)

Updates December 2012/January 2013[edit]

Recently, a few things got added or fixed on DramaWiki:

  • The latest MediaWiki patches were added. Our software version is now 1.20.2.
  • Page information is a new page action available in the sidebar's toolbox. It displays stats of an article in a human-readable way that were previously hidden inside the source code of the page.
  • Because of the last major software upgrade the table sorting for the DramaWiki formatted dates (yyyy-Mmm-dd) got broken. This happened because the sort code moved to the jQuery JavaScript library in MW1.18 which broke our sort patches in the wikibits.js script. With the new fix the dates are now sorted chronological instead of alphabetical again, see KBS TV Novel. The tablesorter works also with cells that contain other text after a date (i.e. date ranges) and you can even force the new sort-type to a column of mixed formats, see example.
  • A few templates got added or extended:

Updates February/March 2013[edit]

Some more template changes:

Updates May/June 2013[edit]

The latest MediaWiki software patches were added. Our software version is now 1.20.5.

New template: added {{credited as}} for use in cast lists (see examples). This should prevent confusion when actors are credited under alternative names in the endtiles and/or on official websites.

Updates July/August 2013[edit]

Applied the security patch 1.20.6 to the MediaWiki software.

Some changes were made to give the new Vector skin the used functionality and to keep our modifications of the MediaWiki software at a minimum:

  • activated the bundled Extension:Gadgets and Extension:Vector for better configuration of the Vector skin. Editors may already set it to the default skin in the user preferences. Vector will become the default skin for DramaWiki soon.
  • added some gadgets for web searching and for tool bar customizations. All these gadgets require Javascript to be enabled in the browser. Vector skin users will find the good old Google CSE by clicking the little arrow located on the right side of the search bar.
  • added a syntax highlight extension for better visualization of scripts and source code. Plain scripts files (e.g. MediaWiki:Common.css or gadget scripts) will be auto-colored, source code snippets in articles can be embedded in <syntaxhighlight> tags to add coloring.

New template: added {{no rating}} (short: {{nr}}) for missing ratings to get rid of those misleading (<x.x%) entries. Hover the mouse over the "n/a" in the template documentation or in the episode ratings section of Who Are You? (MBC) to see a tooltip comment.--MoerkJ talk 01:22, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

Software Upgrade November 2014[edit]

There will be major software upgrade to MediaWiki version 1.23. This time we will use a long term support (LTS) release. The end-of-life of this LTS release will be in May 2017. DramaWiki will be read-only until the upgrade is finished. --MoerkJ talk 16:37, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

  • The software update is complete now. Editing and uploading is enabled again. If you notice any problems related to the upgrade or if you have any ideas for further improvements then please leave a message on the talkpage.
  • The most notable change is the interface which uses the Vector skin now by default. Registered users can switch back to the old skin (MonoBook) by changing their preferences. Some gadgets require the new skin.
  • With the Vector skin the wikisearch box moved to the top right. The websearch is hidden and can be reached by clicking the little arrow on the right side of the search box. You will reach a separate search page by selecting the magnifying glass in an empty searchbox.

DramaWiki Migration to US Server September 2018[edit]

This week, hopefully, today, we will be migrating to a new server which will be located in the US. It will take some time for the move as we are changing the hosting company as well. DramaWiki will go into "Read-only" mode whenever the process begins.

Plan after the migration:

  • Add encryption (https) for secure connections.
  • Upgrade DramaWiki to MediaWiki version 1.31.
  • Add extention VisualEditor for a better editing experience.
