DramaWiki Policy
Creed
The one simple goal of DramaWiki: Become the number-one resource of user-contributed Asian drama information on the Internet. In order to meet this goal, all information on DramaWiki must have consistency. Consistency brings credibility. Credibility is an asset, giving the reader the assurance that the information provided by DramaWiki is clean, accurate, un-biased and verified.
In order to achieve the goal of being number-one on the Internet, DramaWiki must maintain a strict policy on how the content is validated, written and presented.
General guidelines
For TV show-based articles, all editors must keep these general guidelines in mind:
- Validate all information before posting.
- Follow romanization guidelines.
- Keep the focus on the TV show, and make sure the weight of the article tilts towards the TV show, with the other elements (casting, production crew, other notes, etc.) taking a backseat.
- The information does not reflect a personal POV (point of view).
Formatting specifications
Philosophy
The idea behind setting formatting specifications is to give all Korean-related TV show articles a consistent look and feel. Consistency allows for frequent readers to become familiar with the organization of information provided by DramaWiki, and therefore allows the readers to basically spend the least amount of time on a given article, but still walk away with the information needed. It has been proven in various studies that an article with un-organized information, or an article with too much information can cause the reader to suffer from reader fatigue.
In order to provide the reader with information and also provide a reader-friendly experience, it is very important that the editors stick with the formatting specifications. Through experimentation and feedback by the moderators and frequent editors of DramaWiki, the formatting specifications have been designed with consistency in mind. There are reasons behind the defined sections, the order in which they are displayed, and the content of each section. The specifications are based on the following scenario:
- Reader looks to see what the TV show is about (genre, synopsis, etc.)
- Reader looks to see who the cast of characters are.
- Reader looks to see what others think about the TV show.
- Reader looks to other resources for additional information.
Changing the order of the sections and/or changing the contents of each section will have an effect on both the reader experience and the goal of consistency DramaWiki strives to enforce.

- If hanja is given in official sources, for example in historical dramas, you may add them in the brackets beside the hangul.
- See guidelines on how to romanize hangul.
- Images should be limited to:
- One image for the header image or banner.
- One image for the correlation chart (correlation: displaying the relationship between two objects)
- Videos allowed are Teaser/Trailers that have been officially released by their respective productions. Do not upload videos to DramaWiki, use these supported services. Learn how to embed videos with tag hooks.
- All date references should use the form YYYY-MMM-DD. Months are {Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec}. Example: 2008-Sep-01
- All times should reference Korea Standard Time (KST). Times may be formatted using the 24-hour time format or the 12-hour time format. For morning dramas the 12-hour notation should be preferred to avoid confusion for readers who are used to the 12-hour clock. Examples for air times:
- Saturday & Sunday 21:30
- Wednesday & Thursday 21:55
- Monday-Friday 8:00 AM
- Entries for title, episodes, and broadcast information are mandatory. The rest is optional and may be omitted if empty.
Synopsis section

- Keep the synopsis very brief, limiting the size to one or two paragraphs at most.
- Add the {{nosynopsis}} tag to an empty Synopsis section.

- Hangul names are placed in parenthsis ONLY if the artist page does not currently exist. Once the artist page is created, the (<hangul>) may be removed from the article.
- Ensure that cast and crew names adhere to Korean Personal Names Romanization Preferences.

- Cite ALL statistical information - including viewership ratings. Rely only on official research firm documentation for ratings information (e.g. TNmS or AGB Nielsen).
- For airing dramas, especially for longer tv series, the ratings should be collected on a subpage. Once the ratings are complete, the subpage may be integrated or transcluded in the main article.
- You may use the articles in the Ratings category as examples.
Reviews, notes, and external links sections

- The addition of reviews is optional. Create a new page if one does not exist for the drama you want to review. New subpage link should be {Drama Name}/Reviews. Then create a section with your username "Reviewed by User:User."
- For dramas which receive awards an optional Awards section may be created. Single entries may be listed in an existing Trivia/Notes section instead.
- Noteworthy facts about the tv series may be collected in an optional Notes or Trivia section.
- It is mandatory to add at least one reliable external link for verification. Articles with out external references should be regarded as stubs.
- For external links, keep the focus of the links to primary and secondary sourced sites, or sites are known to be credible throughout the TV show community.
- Types of sites to avoid linking to:
- Sites that are purely fan-based. Doing so is considered link spamming in the wiki world.
- Commercial websites like webshops or referral marketing sites.
- Any sites that contain adult-oriented information and images.
- Any sites that contain downloading of motion or still media, such as video streaming or direct downloads, peer-to-peer download links (BT, ClubBox, etc.), or bulk image downloads (photobooks, etc.)
