At 16, he learned to type. At 19, he taught himself how to play the piano using his toes and after only a year, was able to play songs with a difficulty level of 7. In 2010, he became the winner of season 1 of the popular TV show "China's Got Talent." In 2011, never having had any formal acting training, Liu Wei made his acting debut in the TV series Wo De Can Lan Ren Sheng playing the supporting role of the female's lead's younger brother, and as the male lead in the film "The Longest Hug."
