During the reign of Emperor Murakami, in Heiankyo (ancient Kyoto), the people all lived in fear of natural disasters and epidemic illnesses which have been frequent and widespread in the recent years. When the imperial palace caught fire, the Fujiwara clan was asked to help with the rebuilding of the palace. Once the palace was fully rebuilt, a banquet was held to celebrate the occasion. At the banquet, Minamoto Hiromasa was playing the flute and a dancing girl was performing to his tune, when all of a sudden, stones and roof tiles started raining down. With a flash of blue-white lightning, vengeful spirits dressed in noble clothes started appearing. Abe Seimei, who was also invited to the banquet, used his Onmyodo skills to capture and disperse the spirits away.

Abe Seimei was soon touted as a hero, and invited to stay in the inner palace to protect the occupants from evil. In the meantime, every man who was at the banquet became obsessed with the dancing girl, Minomoto himself included. However, due to his pride, Minomoto refused to acknowledge his attraction to the dancing girl, and wouldn't join the Fujiwara clan members in trying to find out where she lived. Soon, one by one the Fujiwara clan members began to die, each one dying soon after claiming to have owned the dancing girl. Fujiwara clan's chief, Kanaie and his son, Michinaga invited Abe to help them resolve the matter. -TV Asahi
