Stub tags on pages with minimal info

I've noticed that you have recently created a great many show pages for older Chinese drama with only minimal information (a title, year, and perhaps one cast member). This is perfectly okay, but pages like this really should be tagged as stubs using the cdrama-stub tag. This helpful tag alerts other users and editors that the page still needs a lot of additional information. The same applies for cast or crew member's pages with little info as well, using the appropriate tag, such as cactor-stub or cactress-stub. Thanks for your efforts! --FritzB (talk) 06:40, 23 September 2020 (PDT) I need new picture for Huang Yi Lin. Can you delete old version was upload in 2019? (Use:ThanhPeters 20:03, 13 May 2021 (PDT)

Signing your messages

When leaving Talk page messages for other users, it's always a good idea to sign your messages, so the other user can easily see who they're from.

To sign & timestamp a message, just click the button on the Talk page Edit menu that looks like a small x with a squiggle after it. It's just to right of the B and I buttons. If you don't like using the buttons you can also use the text code: --~~~~, which will do the same thing. --FritzB (talk) 06:12, 10 June 2021 (PDT)

Please explain if there is any order of placement of external links?

I have seen several times that moderators change the order of external links. In particular, "MyDramaList" is carried below "Douban". Is it regulated somehow?--Witwood (talk) 20:42, 16 October 2022 (PDT)

The are no hard and fast rules as to the listings of external links and I expect that everyone has their own preferences. As for me, I generally list primary sources first (ie. official broadcast network pages, production company pages, actor's agency profiles, etc.), next more reliable secondary sources like Douban, HanCinema, or even Wikipedia, finally others like MyDramaList or AsianWiki. Sites like MyDramaList or AsianWiki do have a lot of info on them, but nearly all of that info is copied from somewhere else and they seldom cite their sources. --FritzB (talk) 05:23, 17 October 2022 (PDT)
FritzB explains it really well. MyDramaList is a secondary source just like DramaWiki; and while they have extensive info, sometimes I see lots of fake casting news and wrong profile info in there, so I list them after the primary sources. However for Chinese actors and dramas in general, most of the time the only primary source is their official weibo accounts, as there are no production company/broadcast network pages; followed by Baidu Baike (which is moderated by the actors' agency themselves). Douban comes after, as it is one of the largest ratings site. There is also Maoyan if you want to include it. Panwink (talk) 08:47, 17 October 2022 (PDT)
Thank you so much for the detailed answer.--Witwood (talk) 14:21, 17 October 2022 (PDT)

Is it possible to convert the actors section to a table?

Is it possible to convert the "Cast" of the series section to a table? With three columns: Actor/Role/Voice actor.--Witwood (talk) 00:30, 19 October 2022 (PDT)

I have no idea to be honest. You can ask FritzB. But I did use it before in The Legends, although I copied the format from Wikipedia. Panwink (talk) 01:24, 19 October 2022 (PDT)
Thank you--Witwood (talk) 01:34, 19 October 2022 (PDT)

Category: Palace

I noticed that you just created a new genre category for Palace dramas. While I have no problem at all with that, I would suggest that you keep the on those show pages as well, otherwise none of them will show up in a search for Historical dramas. --FritzB (talk) 08:05, 23 December 2022 (PST)

Okay noted! Panwink (talk) 08:09, 23 December 2022 (PST)

I do not agree with the cancellation

Is series The Love You Give Me i made the replacement of actor Wang Kun with actress Wang Kun (actress), but you canceled my correction by arguing "same name doesnt mean same person. if u watched the drama u would know its not the same person". Except I was just watching this series. And this actress is playing in it.

Here is a shot from the series, in which there is a woman director of an orphanage in the middle: https://i.ibb.co/DpVwLsJ/1.jpg

And this is a photo from the profile of the actress Wang Kun (actress) on Baike Baidu (the link to which is indicated in the profile of the actress on this site): https://bkimg.cdn.bcebos.com/pic/94cad1c8a786c9177f3eb9070d6967cf3bc79f3df9ca?x-bce-process=image/watermark,image_d2F0ZXIvYmFpa2UxNTA=,g_7,xp_5,yp_5/format,f_auto

Compare and answer, is it actress Wang Kun (actress) or is it an actor Wang Kun?

--Witwood (talk) 20:20, 28 September 2023 (PDT)

Panwink (talk) 11:13, 28 September 2023 (PDT)Oh, its good that you provided picture evidence, because its been long since I watched the drama AND neither the drama nor the actress's baidu actress credited the actress. In fact, the only website that listed some form of credits is [1], and it credited the actor. You can go ahead and make the changes (I'm lazy to do so).

Ok. Fixed it.. --Witwood (talk) 22:26, 28 September 2023 (PDT)

I found two pages of the same actor

I found two pages of the same actor: Lu Zhong and Lu Zhong (actor). In the help, I did not find the procedure for merging two pages. I can transfer everything from one page to another, but I would like to avoid mistakes. Suddenly, there are rules governing such a procedure.

--Witwood (talk) 14:50, 16 Jan 2024 (PDT)

    • Next time you find a dupe, you can just merge it by placing #redirect to . Panwink (talk) 07:40, 16 January 2024 (PST)
      • Thanks! I place #redirect to it at the beginning of the page and everything is automatically transferred to the specified page? Witwood (talk) 19:43, 16 Jan 2024 (PDT)
    • No its not automatic haha. You have to manually move the content to the new page. Just copy and paste will do. Panwink (talk) 10:31, 16 January 2024 (PST)
      • Thanks! I I understood :) Witwood (talk) 23:40, 16 Jan 2024 (PDT)

Need help

Can I know why I can't upload images. It shows as {apierror-permissiondenied}

New users need to have 10+ edits and at least 2 days membership in order to upload images. This long-standing requirement is meant to discourage spammers. --FritzB (talk) 14:51, 24 January 2024 (PST)
      • Ok thanks :)

Can you add cover pic to Jiu Shi Chong Ai Ni?Thanks -- User:Leo https://weibo.com/1031347034/4995160411211542

    • Its been over two days. You should be able to add pics now. Panwink (talk) 19:21, 28 January 2024 (PST)

Oh okay, I thought I'm not eligible yet . --(User:Leo

You Are My Hero (iQiyi)

Looks like they have changed You Are My Hero (iQiyi)'s English title https://weibo.com/7163951796/4991869482435769

Just move it if you have the source. And update the new name on the actors pages. If you are free, you can also update Nan Lai Bei Wang cos there's way too many actors and I'm kinda lazy to do it. Panwink (talk) 08:05, 30 January 2024 (PST)

Ok.

Removed titles

The titles you removed has concept poster. https://weibo.com/5406006781/4891548897248981

Can you upload them when you are free? Or I can crop and do it when I feel like it. Panwink (talk) 08:06, 30 January 2024 (PST)

I tired to crop but it didn't look good so I left it...u can add it when you're free :)

Honestly I don't think there's gonna be a difference in quality regardless who crops it. You can just use yours. Panwink (talk) 08:18, 30 January 2024 (PST)

The Song Dynasty

Bro it has already surpassed 18 episodes. https://v.douyin.com/iNNrTgNK/

Oh I followed Douban's info. You can track and update accordingly then. Panwink (talk) 03:08, 7 February 2024 (PST)

Just use it, or u can use this: https://weibo.com/7122462629/O0etYxmn9?refer_flag=1001030103_

Bro, it seems like most of the dramas are wrongly mixed up in this profile Hu Bo Wen https://baike.baidu.com/item/%E8%83%A1%E5%8D%9A%E6%96%87/51578120

Oh I realised most of the credits belong to the other actor, while this actor has only one credit. 14:00, 24 February 2024 (PST)

Chong Sheng Zhi Di Nv Huo Fei isn't A Dream Within a Dream ??

No, A Dream Within a Dream was mistaken to be an adaptation of the former. But if you look at the new douban page, its basically a new story about time/cross worlds traveling. Marketing acccounts got the info mixed up and now its clarified. Panwink (talk) 17:17, 26 February 2024 (PST)

???? Oops sorry I'll pm you. Panwink (talk) 04:56, 16 March 2024 (PDT) Not needed...anyway you're going to tell something bad XD

Nah. Go check your MDL. Panwink (talk) 05:43, 16 March 2024 (PDT)

Undo changes on page Wang Miao

I'm sorry, but maybe you're wrong. Because on the actress's page Wang Miao (Baidu Baike) there are no series First Love Again and *Detective Husband I've Never Met, but on the actor's page Wang Miao (Baidu Baike) there are of them.

--Witwood (talk) 18:56, 19 Jan 2024 (PDT)

Well, if you bothered to do some research or even know basic Chinese, you will realise that the name "Yao Niang" in Detective Husband I've Never Met is a female character and she appears in 20:49. And for First Love Again, the drama was filmed in 2020 and the actor you said was pronounced DEAD in 2018. So tell me is it his spirit filming it? Besides, the Baidu page [2] for the drama does not link the actor (nor the actress); so I might be wrong but its definitely not the actor filming it. Panwink (talk) 12:26, 19 March 2024 (PDT)

Oh, and this is the actress's weibo link [3]. Please do your research properly next time instead of blindly following sources. Panwink (talk) 12:51, 19 March 2024 (PDT) Thanks for the clarification.

I'm not sure about the spirit, who knows these Chinese, maybe they can summon spirits. It's not for nothing that they focus on spiritual development all the time. :) According to the profile photo on Baike Baidu, the actress is very difficult to identify. But on Weibo it is very possible.

--Witwood (talk) 23:37, 19 Jan 2024 (PDT)

Name of the Baike

I've been wanting to ask for a long time, why do moderators correct the spelling "Baike Baidu" to "Baidu Baike" in the "External Links" section?

In the links, this site has the name "baike.baidu.com ", and in the doramas, the Chinese themselves call him "Baike Baidu". At least I've heard it twice.

In English, it seems like it is customary to write first the last name and then the first name, but in theory this is not the place here?

--Witwood (talk) 10:37, 25 Apr 2024 (PDT)

Uh, because its name is Baidu Baike? [4] ? Baidu is the company name and Baike is its encylopedia.

Thank you. It's getting a little clearer.

Fish Leong - not actress?

Perhaps episodic roles do not make an actor out of a person, but I have come across such "actors" who have nothing but episodic roles. Yes, there are only a few of them, but in the credits they are indicated precisely as actors. Hence the question arises - who are they if not actors? Decorations?

Besides (if you really find fault with the words), then any singer is primarily an actor. Otherwise, he turns into a pillar with a microphone :)

P.S. did not want to offend anyone, and did not name anyone in particular.

--Witwood (talk) 11:16, 01 May 2024 (PDT)

Uh I have no idea what you are saying because it sounds convoluted. But someone with only cameos aren't an actor. Many singers, producers, directors etc make guest appearances but are not labelled as actors. For more questions on Taiwanese entertainment, you can ask tinyloops or whoever. Maybe she/he can find more works of Fish Leong that shows that she has taken on bigger roles than a cameo.

Panwink (talk) 01:39, 1 May 2024 (PDT)

I'm sorry, maybe the translator translated my text incorrectly. Unfortunately, all computer translators are too imperfect. Thanks for the answer and advice. Alas, it is not always possible to determine from publications on the Internet, even on official websites, which role (main/support/guest) an actor (or not an actor :)) plays. And only someone who knows the original language well can understand this from the list of roles in the film.

--Witwood (talk) 11:57, 01 May 2024 (PDT)

Oh my bad, didn't know English was not your native language. You can look at Wikipedia [5]. 客串 = cameo appearance. 配音 = dubbing. I guess she does qualify as an actress because she has a supporting role in a movie, albeit it was more than ten years ago in 2010. But it should be placed after singer as thats her primary job.

Panwink (talk) 02:16, 1 May 2024 (PDT)

Thanks! Unfortunately, there is only one website in Russian that has a more or less decent database of Asian films/TV series. But there are also a lot of gaps that I am trying to eliminate as much as possible. Therefore, you have to use either English-speaking or Asian ones. Where I'm also trying to fix something.

It is very often necessary to collect information piece by piece on different sites. Often even fans ones.
