At the heart of DramaWiki is its search engine. For the search engine to function at its best for the majority of the illiterate Chinese readers, all text must be searchable using common Roman characters that can be found on any given keyboard.

Wikipedia, for example, focuses on precise accuracy of its information, which is really important when producing an encyclopedia-like service. DramaWiki, however, places its focus on the ease of searching for information. The guidelines DramaWiki use when romanizing Chinese text are that:
* the words and phrases, including proper nouns, be entered using a spelling arrangement that is most common among Chinese drama fans.
* the Latin-based characters used can be entered using any computer keyboard, including non-PC keyboards and operating systems.
* the words and phrases can be queried using a variety of Internet-based search engines using their default interfaces and settings.

*Whenever possible, use the official or most common English name as the article title instead. If unavailable, use the official romanization of the article as its title. If all else fails, use Hanyu Pinyin (with the tone marks removed).
*Search the article's official page, or any other official sources for any official romanization.
*It is best to include the Hanyu Pinyin romanization in any article as it will usually be the romanization technique used when the official romanization or its English language title is unclear.

Hanyu Pinyin was approved in 1958 and adopted in 1979 by the government of the People's Republic of China. Since then, all other romanization systems in the PRC have been superseded by Hanyu Pinyin. Romanization of China drama and cast names are relatively straight-forward as all would be governed by the Hanyu Pinyin system.

Unfortunately, this is not usually the case for non-mainland Chinese dramas and artistes, although information can still be found using Hanyu Pinyin.

Unfortunately, usage of both romanizations by the Taiwanese have been rather limited and many Taiwanese themselves do not know either system. Apart from artiste and place names, though even an artiste's romanized name may be hard to find, it is rare that either romanization will be used to romanize drama names.

== Simplified and Traditional Chinese characters ==
This section explains the usage of simplified and traditional Chinese characters, or Hanzi(汉字/漢字), in Dramawiki. For information on the history of Chinese character simplification, please see Wikipedia's [[Wikipedia:Simplified Chinese character|Simplified Chinese character]] article.

The Government of the People's Republic of China simplified Hanzi in an attempt to promote literacy and its character reform has also been adopted in Singapore and Malaysia. However, due to varying circumstances, simplification was not introduced in other places such as Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau.

As such, Simplified Hanzi will be preferred for articles relating to China and Singapore dramas and casts, while Traditional is preferred for articles relating to Hong Kong and Taiwan dramas and casts. If information of the article is available in both character sets, place the officially used character set first.

For example, test both "zhang zi yi" and "zhang ziyi" (place both of them in quotations when performing the searches.) Do a good sample size of maybe 20 names or so. With this type of data collected, it'll give you some proof you can stand behind when do you make any changes and policies. I did this with the Japanese artists, and there I've found that the majority of fans use many different methods of romaji (hepburn, wapuro, a combination of both, etc.) This is why my number-1 criteria in the romanization of Japanese is to use the most popular romanized name - regardless of what's academically correct. Simply put, I'm not going to tell the hundreds of thousands of Western people that the spelling of [[Itoh Misaki]] is incorrect. That's not the position DramaWiki wants to take. And, many Taiwanese actors do not use Pinyin, so you may want to suggest other systems for these specified people, as you would for Cantonese actors. :This pretty much re-affirms my position I made on the Japanese articles; the most popular romanization should prevail. The only time a romanization method is applied is:
:* when there is no clear consensus of what the correct spelling is (i.e. too close to call).
:* when there is no "official" romanization spelling published by the artist or his/her publicist/agency.
:The romanization for Chinese article says the same thing. I suggest we keep this criteron as-is, and start making the necessary changes on any artist articles that are affected. Is there some poll to show which method used is more favoured among visitors of this site, to accurately determine which method should be used (especially for more obscure actors)? Think about it. : I did notice that for Mainland China, it's more common place to have the first name and middle name combined (ie. Gao Yuanyuan). But for Taiwan, it's usually separated (ie. Lu Ting Wei). I suggest that we adopted two systems. For all China/Singapore entries, we used the "Gao Yuanyuan" spelling For Taiwan and other countries, we used "Lu Tin Wei" spelling. Taiwan and China dramas do not maintain a standardized rating system that is readily available to use. We're using the Hepburn rules to establish the lettering, but we're also dropping the special characters like "ō" in order for the letters to be search compatible with various web search engines like Google. If you do not believe me, try this exercise: Log onto Google and perform two searches: "NHK Kōhaku" and "NHK Kohaku". As of this writing, there are 143 hits for "NHK Kōhaku", while there are 17,500 hits for "NHK Kohaku". This is because characters like "ō" differ from "o" in the ASCII chart, which is what computers use in comparison or sorting routines. You also have to remember that until the early 1990's, computer keyboards could not even produce the "ō" character, which is why a great number of articles and such do not use it.

Wikpedia is based in the ideology that it is an encyclopedia, and that ALL content must be written in an encyclopedia format - including the choice of characters in words. :::I would not recommend it. If for any specific reason, it is to keep the wiki database from becoming too bloated. Currently there are 3943 valid articles on DramaWiki. There are actually 9111 articles, but almost two-thirds of that number could be re-directs to the 3943 articles. If we said it was okay to do so, we could see literally tens of thousands of redirect pages generated, which IMHO isn't something we really need here. Remember that DramaWiki is a division of D-Addicts. And the DramaWiki, D-Addicts message board, and the tracker all use the same resources. "The Champion" deals with two plots in the same time. First, it tells the story of the female swimming team Fei Yu which fights with the arrogant Flying Fish. Starting with a very low potential, Fei Yu improves step by step thanks to their new and very strict coach Wu Zhenkang ([[Yan Xingshu]]). The team is composed of Lu Kaixin ([[Fiona Xie]]), Guo Jingwen ([[Jeanette Aw]]), Wang Tong ([[Felicia Chin]]) and He Yilin ([[Zhao Hongqiao]]). Family and friends surround them especially Kaixin's brother Kaiwei ([[Qi Yuwu]]).

We also get much deeper in the life of one of the Fei Yu swimmers: Jingwen the "tardy queen". Due to a difficult family life, Jingwen can not always reach her swimming commitments as well as her family ones. However, she is a courageaous girl and she always tries to do her best. She will also fall in love but Jingwen will hesitate a long time between Kaiwei and Zhenkang

There are a lot of sub-plots in this drama. We can summarize them with the main common starting point: Kaixin fell in love with Jiajun (Toro). Jealousy within the Fei Yu will give trouble to all the characters especially the kind and naive Kaixin.

"The Champion" is a good drama, not really innovative but very entertaining. The producers mixed famous young stars from Taiwan and Singapore. It reminds us a bit "[[My MVP Valentine]]" (you can notice that Yan Xingshu plays in "the Champion" too) but it is clearly much more glamourous. Unfortunately, the good rhythm of the 10 first episodes slows down in the second half of the drama. The regular fights between Jingwen's brother and father are a little bit boring. In conlusion, don't hesitate to watch it, it will be for sure a good entertaining souvenir but don't hope too much for brilliant actors as well as an innovative scenario.

Liu Jiaomei ([[Zhou Lichen]]) is actually a girl disguised as a boy who goes around knowing countless of girls. Shen Yin He ([[Cyndi Wang]]) is a very intelligent girl who quits school because of her family background to work as a so-called hostess. Lan Yuli ([[Esther Liu]]) is a normal school girl who always daydreams about those olden days legendary and just like You Yayu and gang, she loves to uphold justice (although most of the time she helps the wrong side). Gu Tian Le ([[Sam Wang]]) is a normal guy who only has eyes for Shen Yinhe and would do anything for her. Xing Wang ([[Wallace Huo]]) is a Harvard graduate with really high IQ and when he heard about You Yayu being the strongest in West Street, he aims to defeat him.

When all 8 of them meet, a story filled with friendship, love, hate and trust begins.

==Synopsis==
Wedding cold feet? This is a story about an idol who gets dumped at his own wedding.

It is the best Asian tv drama of all time! Meteor Garden is about Shan Cai, a poor girl, who attends Ying De University in Taipei, Taiwan. She is bullied by Dao Ming Sz, who is the leader of F4, also known as the "Flower Four." F4 are are sons of the richest corporate executives in Taiwan. Shan Cai is a tough girl who will not allow anyone to bully her around. In the midst of the hazing, Shan Cai starts to secretly fall in love with Lei because he is nice to her. Lei is Dao Ming Sz's best friend. However, Lei already has his heart set on Jing (his longtime childhood friend). Dao Ming Sz starts to secretly fall in love with Shan Cai after he sees how independent and tough she is to withstand him. In the beginning Shan Cai hates Dao Ming Sz because she thinks he's a big jerk. As the story unfolds and the love triangles tangle, a story of love, hate, sorrow, comedy, and passion takes over the audiences' emotions. Be ware of the addiction! Meteor Garden may change your outlook on life or perhaps rekindle old memories of the past.

I probably disagree with most people when I say that I think this is only a mediocre drama with a great script and bad acting. When I first started watching this, I found the acting a little exaggerated, and entirely too staged. I couldn't really "get into" the drama and care abo/ut the characters (which is a vital component to a good drama in my opinion). However, when I decided to read the script of Meteor Garden, I found it engaging and funny at times. Therefore, I concluded that it must've been the cast that originally turned me off. Although I wouldn't say that this drama is horrible, I think it's highly overrated. I'd much rather prefer spending my time watching [[Mars]], a Taiwanese drama that I believe, frankly, deserves a category of its own.

==Synopsis==
Mo Fan is back. After seven years of hiatus, Mo Fan returns to the place where he was expelled as a medical student.

Tragedy struck. Yi Nin developed an acute neurological disorder. Mo Fan conducted an extensive research and found that the medical science couldn't help her. He believed the best course of action was to remove the damaged brain cells and put her in a coma until a breakthrough in the future medical science. His idea was rejected by both Qi Xiu and the professor. But, he convinced Yi Nin, and they went ahead with the surgery. 

For this, Mo Fan was expelled from the medical school. He left Yi Nin in Qi Xiu's care and dropped out from the radar. 

Seven years later, Yi Nin is still in the coma, Qi Xiu has become a famous and successful surgeon, and Mo Fan opened a small medical supply store in a small town of nowhere. 

They gather once again when a visiting prime minister is shot in the head in an assassination attempt. Because the prime minister is a Jehovah's Witness, his family strongly refuses the use of blood transfusion during the surgery. Knowing it's almost impossible to accomplish, Qi Xiu has no choice but to ask the genius Mo Fan for help. When a female journalist, who doesn't take "no" for answer, gets wind of their secret collaboration, she is determined to make it the biggest story of her career.

F4 graduated from Ying De Xue Yuan. Dao Ming Si asked Shan Cai to go on vacation with him to Spain. Just before the trip, they had an argument, which made the trip become meaningless. F3 made/send Ah Si and Shan Cai to Spain, and Hua Ze Lei gave Ah Si an envelope with a "smart advice" in it. Dao Ming Si and Shan Cai's love had become inseparable during the trip. Ah Si opened the envelope, and the advice from Hua Ze Lei was to ask Shan Cai to marry him, so Dao Ming Si bought a "Meteor Ring" which Shan Cai had led her eyes on, and prepared to propose to her in a church which had special meanings of "love".

But, on the way to the church, Dao Ming Si had a car accident which had caused him to loss his memory and he met Xue Er at that time, who helped and looked after him. The sudden disappearance of Ah Si had caused Shan Cai to worry, so she asked Jing to help her. F3 came to Spain immediately after they heard the news.

What follows is a story full of ups and downs as Shan Cai tries to find Dao Ming Si and help him regain his memory, but a person gets in the way of their love as Dao Ming Si falls in love with another woman in his new life as Ah Xing.

You Li is from a small town in the South. He is an orphan who would normally use playing billiards as a gambling match to earn money – "Billiard boy". It is through the internet that he gets acquainted with rich girl, Ah Yin and falls in love. Under the teaching of teacher Duan Zhi, You Li constantly make appropriate analogies between the billiard skills and that of his individual style, his goal in life, and the principle of living. His skills gradually becomes more refined, accurate, stable. At the same time, not only does he understands how to win the ball, but he also understands how to allow his opponent to save face and give them leaway.

You Li's billiards are being played better and better. Under the encouragement of Duan Zhi, You Li and his good friend, Ah Cao, Xiao Nai, started to take part in official competitions. Shao Qi Feng, who operates a franchise of billiard galleries, eventually starts hearing about You Li's reputation. ==Synopsis==
It was with much difficulty that Ai Qing was able to save enough money and arrive in her dream place, Paris. As a result, she was extremely happy about this. At the same time, Zi Hao is also in Paris receiving an international fashion award, the grand prize. They both got into a big argument at a small artistic shop over a small wooden horse that they both fell in love with. In the end, with the owner's consent, Ai Qing is able to obtain the wooden horse. The accidental meeting at the airport and on the plane, cause the two of them to have an even more unfavorable impression of each other. Both were rejoicing at the fact that after this trip, they would never have to see each other again. However, who would have expected that these two people's destinies are forever intertwined tightly together.

Tao Village is a small village that Ai Qing's Grandpa and deceased Grandma cultivated together. It is also the Peach Blossom garden that is within Grandpa's heart. Therefore, looking after and protecting Tao Village is a job that Ai Qing sees as her responsibility.

The mornings here are always filled with energy and vitality. Just when Ai Qing gets the peaceful feeling of "returning home is really the best", the sudden burst of noise from a car engine disrupts the village's peacefulness. Ai Qing gets an extremely disgruntled feeling and her good mood is completely destroyed. Just when she wants to go out and see what is going on, her Grandpa reminds her that today is the day where the small children are coming to the village for a visit. For this day, Ai Qing has long been planning for a long time. She is going to dress up as a European sheep herder to attract the attention of the little children. Who would have thought that just when she is getting into the whole act, a car would burst out of nowhere and disrupts everything. It frightened the horse into running away, the children starts crying and the troublemaker, Cheng Hai Nuo, loses consciousness from his injury.

Seeing that Hai Nuo is hurt and without giving a thought to blaming him for the trouble, she and Grandpa hurriedly treats Hai Nuo. Under all this confusion, two strangers, who are dressed completely out of place, shows up. They happen to be Zi Hao's assistant, Freddie and a lawyer. Holding on to a piece of paper that is a contract, they request that she and her Grandpa move out within a short period of time because the village has changed ownership. This place will soon be rebuilt to hold the offices of Global Group.

At this time, Ai Qing is startled to discover that her elder brother, Ya Qun, has secretly betrayed the village, this place that she has regarded as her home forever. In order to be able to preserve the village, she goes to the buyer's company. To her surprise, she finds out that the buyer is actually the person who has left her such an unhappy impression in Paris, Zi Hao. It turns out that Zi Hao has taken a liking to Tao Village and decides to rebuild the village into his own fashion designing center.

Remembering the Paris trip, even though there is still discontent in her heart, Ai Qing still hopes that Zi Hao could dispel the notion of rebuilding the village. Zi Hao, of course, refuses Ai Qing's request.

The disappointed Ai Qing returns home. Before she can even find the time to digest the disappointment in her heart, she has to deliver the cheese that is made in the village to the vendor that is set up next to race track. She just happens to catch the end of a competition, the moment when Hai Nuo receives the prize. Hai Nuo's eyesight is extremely good, within such a huge crowd, he is able to catch sight of Ai Qing. He immediately throws his prize cup to his companions and shoves through the crowd of people. Under the gaze of everyone, he directly expresses to Ai Qing that he wants her to be the princess that is within his heart. Ai Qing didn't give a thought to the jealous and envious stares of all the girls that are standing aside. She only felt that this was a baffling joke. This day has sure been one unfortunate one!

One day has passed by, but Ai Qing's troubles have not ended yet. When she wakes up from her drunken state and finds herself lying on top of Hai Nuo's bed, this is truly an earth shattering discovery…

Yeah...right.

When you visit a little town called Guan Mei, you may meet Ye Tianyu ([[Chen Qiaoen]]). At first glance, she may seem as a shameless, money-grubbing, deceiving little schemer. And when you meet her family at their little grocery store called "Qian Lai Ye" (Money c'mon in), you will find the shameless, money-grubbing, deceiving little schemer trait runs in the family. But, please don't prejudge them. They are actually very kind-hearted townsfolk, as Shan Jun-Hao ([[Ming Dao]]) finds out when he gets involved in a mysterious car accident and loses his memory.

Okay, fine. The accident is not so accidental.

Shan Junhao is a general manger of Senwell Hotel, in which his family owns 60% of the shares. His cold-hearted, cut-throat management style pisses quite a lot of people inside and outside of the hotel. So on the day of his engagement to his childhood friend, Fan Yunxi ([[Zhao Hongqiao]]), he gets kidnapped. By his other childhood friend Xu Zhiqian's ([[Sam Wang]]) friend, because Xu Zhixian also likes Fan Yuxi. Not someone who takes it lying down, San Junhao fights for the control of the kidnapping car. The car crashes into a side railing and falls down a cliff. Luckily, he survives the crash and manages to climb back up onto the highway. Unfortunely, he is immediately hit by an oncoming car and knocked unconscious.

And, who hit him? Who else but Yi Tianyu. He loses his memory, and everyone (including his soon to be wife) thinks he's dead. Yi Tian-Yu and her family do not know that he's San Junhao, only the ex-husband knows, but he doesn't say anything for awhile because of personal buisness reasons with San Junhao. Well over a period of time, Yi Tianyu and San Junhao (nicknamed Dang Oh) develop a relationship. Meanwhile when Fan Yunxi is still sad about the 'passing away' (supposedly of her fiancee, she gets pretty close to Xu Zhiqian.

Couldn't it have just ended like that?
Oh course not. Dang Oh is eventually discovered to be Shan Jun-Hao by Xu Zhiqian & Fan Yuxi, but Dang Oh won't admit it. Later, another car accident happens with Dang Oh. He forgets everything that happened after the previous car accident but remembers everthing before it, so in other words, he forgets Yi tian-yu and becomes Shan Jun-Hao again. Yi Tianyu still likes him. Things happen, and eventually Shan Junhao develops some sort of feelings for Yi Tian-Yu, but then Xu Zhiqian is already on the move and trying to get Yi Tianyu to forget 'Dang-Oh' and go out with him.

So who will end up with who?? Will San Junhao be able to win back Yi Tianyu? or will he have to keep to the original plan and get married to Fan Yunxi?

==Synopsis==
On the race tracks, the gasoline accompanies the engine sounds and creates a special smell in the atmosphere. When the cars race past, the sounds that it gives off rumble in the air and will always bring forth some kind of desire within the deepest part of a person's heart. Fast, a fastness that requires completely no thinking and only can concentrate on the high speed ahead. It is the limit that humanity thirsts to challenge.

The start of this story begins on the race track.

The leading character of the story, Ling, originally had a twin brother that is bound to him by destiny. These two with their extreme differences in their personality but still balancing each other, became each other's sole dependents in spirit and in life. The active Ling, speeds long on his motorcycle all day, regarding racing as his life-long career; the quiet Sheng, follows by the side of Ling and records the appearance of Ling with his paint brush when he is racing. Everything was supposed to be so perfect and balanced…

However, because of heavy family and emotional disputes, Ling loses the only "other him" that understands and forgives him. His dream of racing is no longer important. His empty and unbearable self does not deserve to speed down the sacred race course.

Until he meets Qi Luo. Qi Luo's forgiveness smoothes the emptiness in Ling. And love, replaces family relationship, becoming the biggest support that Ling's spirit needs. Therefore, his dream starts to gain power once again, racing toward an endless boundary…

The story's ending, Ling stands once again on the race tracks. When the starting flag starts flapping in the wind, the war-god's blood starts boiling with a sense that can't be restrained.

==Synopsis==

==Synopsis==
"The Champion" deals with two plots in the same time. First, it tells the story of the female swimming team Fei Yu which fights with the arrogant Flying Fish. Starting with a very low potential, Fei Yu improves step by step thanks to their new and very strict coach Wu Zhenkang ([[Yan Xingshu]]). The team is composed of Lu Kaixin ([[Fiona Xie]]), Guo Jingwen ([[Jeanette Aw]]), Wang Tong ([[Felicia Chin]]) and He Yilin ([[Xiao Qiao]]). Family and friends surround them especially Kaixin's brother Kaiwei ([[Qi Yuwu]]).

We also get much deeper in the life of one of the Fei Yu swimmers: Jingwen the "tardy queen". Due to a difficult family life, Jingwen can not always reach her swimming commitments as well as her family ones. However, she is a courageaous girl and she always tries to do her best. She will also fall in love but Jingwen will hesitate a long time between Kaiwei and Zhenkang

There are a lot of sub-plots in this drama. We can summarize them with the main common starting point: Kaixin fell in love with Jiajun (Toro). Jealousy within the Fei Yu will give trouble to all the characters especially the kind and naive Kaixin.

==Review==
"The Champion" is a good drama, not really innovative but very entertaining. The producers mixed famous young stars from Taiwan and Singapore. It reminds us a bit "[[My MVP Valentine]]" (you can notice that Yan Xingshu plays in "the Champion" too) but it is clearly much more glamourous. Unfortunately, the good rhythm of the 10 first episodes slows down in the second half of the drama. The regular fights between Jingwen's brother and father are a little bit boring. In conlusion, don't hesitate to watch it, it will be for sure a good entertaining souvenir but don't hope too much for brilliant actors as well as an innovative scenario.
