Synopsis
Lovestruck in the City is an omnibus series with a realistic portrayal of young people who pursue romance and happiness while struggling to get by in a busy, competitive urban environment. The drama is filmed in a 'mockumentary' (mock documentary) format while following six professionals in their late 20s/early 30s as they navigate dating, keeping a relationship, and breaking up, all the time answering questions from an unseen narrator on various topics such as "How did you initiate your first sex?" and "Have you had a one-night stand?"

Ji Chang Wook plays Park Jae-won, an honest man and a passionate architect. A romantic at heart, he cannot forget a certain woman. A thief of his heart and his camera who disappears like a fleeting midsummer night’s dream.

Kim Ji Won, known for giving distinct color and charm to her roles, plays the freelance marketer Lee Eun-oh, an ordinary woman who temporarily reinvents herself as the spontaneous and free spirited Yun Seon-ah. She takes off to a remote place on an impulse and falls in love with Jae-won under this new identity.
Synopsis
Ma Dong Chan (Ji Chang Wook) is known in the entertainment world as a "hit maker." A very successful producer of variety programs, Dong-chan is considered "a manly specimen of manhood, with perfect physical and handsome features who is coldly cool in work and hot in love." On PD Ma's staff is part-timer Ko Mi Ran (Won Jin Ah), who finds herself in a bind with debt collectors harassing her family for repayment of her father's debts. In order to pay off her family debts, Mi-ran accepts a position as a show runner for PD Ma's new variety program entitled "24-Hour Frozen Human Project."

Mi-ran joins PD Ma in this new variety program, which revolves around an experiment where a man and woman are randomly chosen to be "frozen human specimens" and scheduled to be brought back within 24 hours of their entering the freezing chambers. Due to a mysterious conspiracy that befalls Dong-chan and Mi-ran, instead of being frozen for the stated 24 hours, they remain frozen for 20 years. Unbeknownst to Dong-chan and Mi-ran, their thawing 20 years later bring up personal difficulties that were in place before entering the freezing chamber that they must resolve before resuming their normal lives.

Dong-chan and Mi-ran start out resenting each other whilst trying to reverse their lives and find out the side effects of frozen human experimentation, with one affecting their very existence - the need to keep their average body temperature close to 31.5°C (88.7ºF) in order to survive. (Normal body temperature is closer to 37ºC/98.6ºF, so that's quite a step down in order to stay alive.)

Late 2000s
In 2009, He started to gain quite an amount of attention as an actor in KBS2 smashing hit The Sons of Sol Pharmacy House, it received 40% viewership numbers with each episode. Then he starred in the MBC action-comedy series Hero, even though he had a supporting role he managed to grab the viewers attention with his comedic timing and martial arts prowess.

2010s
He later starred in 2010, in his first starring role in the daily drama Smile, Dong Hae, his acting, in particular, received high compliments from critics and viewers alike. In 2012, he appeared in his first ever villain role in SBS Five Fingers, his performance captivated viewers and impressed critics. After having spent a few years away from the musical theater scene, he finally returned in the year 2013 to perform in "The Days." "The Days" was a huge success with critics and audiences, and it helped to popularize once more the "jukebox musical" genre.

In 2013, he joined the cast of the historical drama Empress Ki, where he played Emperor Huizong. His role was singlehandedly praised by critics and the viewers. The drama was an uproaring success and also quite a popular phenomenon nationwide; the drama's popularity even transcended overseas. Ji Chang Wook from that point forward started to achieve even more recognition than before.

In December 2014, he joined the main cast of the KBS2 action-thriller Healer, where he played Seo Jung-hoo, an illegal "night courier" under the alias "Healer" who ends up falling in love with reporter Chae Young-shin played by co-star Park Min Young, the woman he must protect against all odds. Because of the drama, Ji Chang Wook started to gain new fans in every corner of Asia. The drama was a success, and his acting was praised once more. He then starred in a couple of Mandarin-language dramas to challenge himself and go against typecasting.

He returned to the small screen again and made his drama comeback by starring in tvN's The K2. The drama was moderately successful and received favorable reviews with Korean audiences, but it was still a success overseas because of Ji Chang Wook's brand recognition. He then starred in the web drama series Seven First Kisses, in a tongue-in-cheek role parodying his previous "action star" characters.

In 2017, Ji Chang Wook starred in the action-thriller film Fabricated City, giving an out of the ordinary performance with a lot of range to his acting. Following that, he then made a cameo on the comedy-drama film The Bros. He was later cast to play the lead role in the SBS drama Suspicious Partner; the romantic comedy/thriller was a viewership disappointment, and although received mixed reviews domestically, the drama became a well-received hit with international viewers.

On 14 August 2017, Ji Chang Wook began his mandatory military service and enlisted into the Republic of Korea Army at the White Skull Division, 5th Artillery Army Brigade 8726 at Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon Province, serving as a Field Artillery Signal Operator. During his service, he auditioned for and won the role of Dong-kyu in the military musical "Shinheung Military School," premiering on 9 September 2018. He continued with "Shinheung" performances through 21 April 2019, but left the musical in advance of his impending military discharge on 27 April 2019.

On 30 April 2019, Glorious Entertainment confirmed that Ji Chang Wook's first project post-military service would be as the lead in the upcoming tvN drama "Let Me Melt" (working title) as Ma Dong Chan, a wildly-successful variety show PD who volunteers to take part in his latest show called "Frozen Human Experiment." "Let Me Melt" is tentatively scheduled for a late September 2019 premiere.
