==About Han Chae-young==

PROFILE
Name: Han Chae-young

Date of Birth: Sep. 13, 1980

Body: 172cm/47kg

Title: TV Actress

Hobbies: Designing Clothing, Collecting Borbie Dolls

Debut: Movie, 'You will die if marked out'(2000)

Works appeared: Drama 'Sassy Girl, Chun-hyang', 'My love, Beijing' and more

Han Chae-young who's real name was kim ji-young is aptly named the 'Barbie Doll' of Korea.
But nowadays, it's not just her looks that have got people talking. Instead, the actress is garnering rave reviews for her work in the television drama, "Always Cheerful Choonhyang"!

A present-day version of the historical movie, "Chunhyang," critics doubted the series would succeed. But the work has proved a favorite among young adults. Han was at the core of this success, playing a fun-loving, free-spirited young woman.

Though the actress may seem, at first, stand-offish, she tells Showbiz that she's quite similar to her character in 'Chunhyang.' The role 'no surprise' fit her like a glove.

Han debuted in 2000 in the movie, "Recording." She then appeared in the low-budget movie, "Bet on My Disco," playing an innocent young girl in love. In "Wild Card," she starred with actor Yang Dong-geun and released, you could say, her wild side, playing a sexy detective. Her work last year in "Beijing, My Love" was her first as a lead. But the joint Korean-Chinese production did not perform as well as people expected.

But with the success of 'Chunhyang,' Han is, nevertheless, heavily in demand by producers and fans.
Radiating an innocence that makes men want to protect her and a jubilance that makes people love her - The beautiful star, Lee Da-hae! After her successful run on the drama, ¡°My Girl,¡± she's been the apple of the public's eye~ Today's STAR FOCUS is on Lee Da-hae!

We caught up with the bright-eyed actress at the location of a luxury brand fashion show. Excitement filled the air as Lee Da-hae and Lee Joon-ki got paired together again, after an ill-fated romance on their drama, ¡°My Girl.¡±

Many cameras filled the area, also because Lee had been out of the spotlight for some time. She smiled expertly into the camera and looked more relaxed than we had seen her in a while.

The drama, ¡°My Girl,¡± may be over, but her character is still alive in people's minds. Lee Da-hae played Joo Yoo-rin, a swindler that audiences couldn't help but love.
Lee had flung off her usual graceful, refined on-screen image, to portray this sweet, wacky, and comical character. The results were more than satisfactory.

When Lee Da-hae starred in the drama, ¡°Heaven's Fate¡±, she perfected the role of a female shaman. A rookie when she started the drama, Lee's convincing performance shot her instantly to "leading lady" status. So it was no wonder that ¡°Heaven's Fate¡± held a special place in her heart.

For every character, Lee Da-hae manages to seduce her audiences and turn them into adoring fans. Her start to stardom began in 2001, when she won a beauty pageant, the "Miss Chunhyang" Contest. Then Lee Da-hae began showing up in TV dramas, first, ¡°Heaven's Fate,¡± then ¡°Green Rose¡± and ¡°My Girl¡±... Who knew her original dreams of the future were NOT of acting?

Lee Da-hae's fan club, Emerald, has always stood behind the actress - offering her full comfort and support. If there was one major difference between Lee Da-hae's fan club and other such young stars - Lee's fans ranged from teenagers to middle-aged adults. And the secret to her wide popularity - ?

She may be very similar to her straightforward and off-beat character, Joo Yoo-rin, but Lee has been applauded as the drama queen of tears.
Wherever she turned, her previous roles had all been maidens in distress, caught up in the sorrows of love.

In front of 1300 guests, today's fashion show began with a flourish (read: fler'-ish)! And Lee Da-hae was at the center of attention.
Though she wasn't a professional model, Lee strutted down the catwalk with her head up and her shoulders thrown back. It seemed that there was no holding her back - on the stage, on television, or on-camera.

And she's off to a fantastic beginning - heading down a road toward infinite possibilities! We all hold our breaths for the NEXT spectacular transformation that the lovely Lee Da-hae attempts!

At the tender age of 24, Jung Ryeo-won has decided to slow down. "I have been charging ahead, and now I'll take a rest for a while. While I relax, I'm going to lay out a daily schedule of things I really like to do," she says. Fresh from her leading part in the MBC TV hit drama "My name is Kim Sam-soon", she was offered a starring role in "Wolf" due next January -- and politely turned it down. Apart from TV commercials already shot, she only has a stint as presenter of the MBC "Entertainment News" lined up.

So how will she fill the empty hours? "I'm going to watch myself in my dramas, one after the other," she says. "It'll be really interesting. And I'll cook lots of tasty delicacies and exercise hard."

The second of three children, Jung Ryeo-won emigrated to Brisbane, Australia in 1991, when she was in fifth grade. Her father has a retail business. "In the first few years in Australia, I couldn't get along with Australian students," Jung admits. "Since there were few Asians in the neighborhood, the Australian students were very curious about me, but they also bothered me. When I was in sixth grade, I was standing at a pedestrian crossing one day and a car stopped. The driver rolled down the window and spat at me, shouting, 'Go home!'

"At first, I didn't even understand what he said. I had never been abused for being yellow before." Since then, she studied English hard. "I thought, 'Hang in there and you'll soon be able to hold your own in English,' and I made progress quickly. One year later, I gave a speech as a representative of Asian graduates and talked about my experience of discrimination. I got a big round of applause."

By junior high school, Ryeo-won had adapted to school and had a lot of part-time jobs as well. "I worked in supermarkets, pharmacies, clothes shops, bookstores, libraries, lottery stands... I wanted to become independent. It was a great experience and lucrative as well. I came to Korea with my savings." She says one remarkable thing about Australia is that Christmas falls in the middle of summer, since antipodean seasons are the opposite of Korea's. Her family used to go swimming on the Gold Coast every year. "Australians love to travel and eat out with their family. They have barbecue parties at weekends. But here, I found that Korea at night is brighter than in the daytime. There are too many bars and too many wives waiting for their husbands at home."

Her childhood dream was to become an academic. After graduation from high school, she got into Griffith University, majoring in international business. But then, during a short visit to Korea in 1999, she was spotted by a show biz scout in Apgujeong, and the rest is history. She hit a low in 2002, when she became confused about her identity between worlds. "I wondered what brought me to Korea. Sometimes I felt alienated from my fellow Koreans, and my work as a singer wasn't what I had expected."

There is one more thing she would like to do with the quality time ahead: go out with a man she can respect. Asked what she thinks of Daniel Henney, her costar in "My name is Kim Sam-soon", she retorts, "He's just a friend. I often exchange text messages with Kim Sun-ah, Daniel Henney and Hyunbin. We're a family now."

When she returns to the entertainment business, she hopes to become someone of the caliber of Mel Gibson or Ethan Hawke. "Aside from acting, I want to go to New York to study jewelry design. I keep lots of jewelry I designed and manufactured at home," reveals in parting, already full of plans again. "I also hope to publish a collection of my journal, notes and pictures."
