==About==
The awards are held annually as part of the '''[http://nab.or.jp/drafes/english/index.html International Drama Festival]'''. The winners are selected firstly by members of the All Nippon Producers Association, then selected by the "screening committee" consisting of newspaper publishers and broadcasters, and finally selected by the "Competition Jury" consisting of key figures.

Dramas are rigorously selected from the viewpoint of "a drama that I, as a Japanese person, would like the world to see", and "a drama that will be accepted and do well throughout the world." More specifically, values are placed on 1) a drama that will represent Japan in terms of quality, 2) a highly entertaining drama, which will do well abroad, and 3) a drama which mirrors Japanese society appropriately.

==Synopsis==
Nakamura Rui is a divorced but highly successful producer in publishing. She meets Suzuki Kou, an ambitious buisiness man 17 years her junior, and finds herself getting aggressively persued by him. ===Synopsis===
The story revolves around Take Seiji, who quits his job after three months. With no dreams, no savings, and a poor relationship with his family, he becomes a hikikomori. However, after his mother falls ill with depression, he ends up having to take on a part-time job at a construction site. Because of that, he soon decides to work towards rebuilding his life: "Even though I'm just a freeter, I'm going to buy a house for the sake of my family." ===Synopsis===
One year has passed since Take Seiji became a full time employee at Oetsu Construction. The Take family, having moved into their new home, have been living there peacefully until Sumiko's brother shows up one day while she is out, and Seiji and Ayako discovers that their parents had in fact married despite objection from Sumiko's family.

Also, Manami, in the midst of her internship in Okayama, is coming back to Tokyo for a week, and so Seiji and Manami are finally able to reunite. Manami's father had passed away when she was young and her mother, Sayuri, had remarried since then. Growing up in such an environment, Manami had fostered a complicated relationship with her mother, and because of that the prospect of marriage wasn`t appealing to her.

Seiji, having just started his new life, hadn't really given much thought to marriage, but after meeting Manami's mother, he is shocked to learn how Manami feels about her mother and towards marriage. But one day, on the way home from drinking with the Oetsu Construction members, Seiji and Manami come across an abandoned kitty. After promising to take care of the kitty only until a new owner is found, Manami is able to take care of the kitty at her mother`s home. But, while Manami is out at work, the kitty becomes ill and Manami's mother not knowing what to do contacts Manami and so Seiji decides to take care of the kitty in the meantime. And, the very presence of the kitty becomes a turning point for both the Take family and Manami`s relationship with her mother... -- Fuji TV

The story follows a brain surgeon named, Minakata Jin, who has spent the last two years in anguish, as his fiancee lies in a vegetative state after an operation he performed. One day, he faints at the hospital and awakens to find himself transported back in time to the Edo period. He is soon attacked by a samurai, but he escapes with the help of a man named Kyotaro. Kyotaro suffers a serious injury to the head while trying to protect him, but Jin manages to save his life despite a lack of proper medical equipment. Because of that, Kyotaro's sister Saki begins taking an interest in Jin and becomes his assistant. ==Synopsis==
The story follows a family of Japanese immigrants who crossed over to America 99 years ago. Kusanagi plays both the young Hiramatsu Chokichi (later taken over by Nakai) and his son, Ichiro. When the war breaks out the Japanese immigrants face racism and segregation. Ichiro pledges his alliance to America and gets sent to Europe, second son Jiro stays back with Ichiro's beloved Shinobu (who he has a crush on) and tries to protect his parents' farm. ===Synopsis===
One year has passed since Take Seiji became a full time employee at Oetsu Construction. The Take family, having moved into their new home, have been living there peacefully until Sumiko's brother shows up one day while she is out, and Seiji and Ayako discovers that their parents had in fact married despite objection from Sumiko's family.

Also, Manami, in the midst of her internship in Okayama, is coming back to Tokyo for a week, and so Seiji and Manami are finally able to reunite. Manami's father had passed away when she was young and her mother, Sayuri, had remarried since then. Growing up in such an environment, Manami had fostered a complicated relationship with her mother, and because of that the prospect of marriage wasn`t appealing to her.

Seiji, having just started his new life, hadn't really given much thought to marriage, but after meeting Manami's mother, he is shocked to learn how Manami feels about her mother and towards marriage. But one day, on the way home from drinking with the Oetsu Construction members, Seiji and Manami come across an abandoned kitty. After promising to take care of the kitty only until a new owner is found, Manami is able to take care of the kitty at her mother`s home. But, while Manami is out at work, the kitty becomes ill and Manami's mother not knowing what to do contacts Manami and so Seiji decides to take care of the kitty in the meantime. And, the very presence of the kitty becomes a turning point for both the Take family and Manami`s relationship with her mother... -- Fuji TV
