Synopsis
In the early dawn of 11 December 1960, the murdered body of a middle-aged man is discovered at a shunting yard within the premises of Tokyo's Kamata station. His face has been smashed to the extent that he cannot be recognised, but it is determined that he was strangled and not beaten to death. It is presumed that he was strangled after being put to sleep, and his face battered once he was dead. A dodgy man emerges in the investigation task force's door-to-door investigation. On the night before the murder, there had been two men at a bar near Kamata station and one of these men matched the victim's appearance. Furthermore, the victim used words that appeared to be Tohoku dialect, while the man who seemed to be the criminal said “Kameda has not changed at all”. These are cited as important evidence, and a large-scale investigation around 'Kameda' begins. The female news reporter Yamashita Yoko suggests to Detective Yoshimura Hiroshi of Nishi Kamata Police Precinct, who has joined the task force as one of its members, that 'Kameda' may be the 'Ugokameda' in Akita prefecture. So Yoshimura heads to Akita. He and veteran detective Imanishi Eitaro from the First Investigative Division obtain information about the sighting of a suspicious-looking man for several days since the murder occurred. However, they have no other leads besides this … … The only incident lodged in Yoshimura's memory is the figure of the up-and-coming music composer, Waga Hideyoshi whom he had chanced upon at the train station, and the existence of the 'Nouveau Group' for young, cultured intellectuals, which Waga belongs to. --Jdrama Weblog
Synopsis
“W no Higeki” is an adaptation of a novel by Natsuki Shizuko, which was first published in 1982. It was first dramatized for TV in 1983; turned into a theatrical movie in 1984, then got two separate drama adaptations in 2001 and 2010. In the original W no Higeki book, the main character is a foreigner who has no blood link to the titular W (originally Wada) family; she's just the English teacher and friend of the heiress. Because of this, all film and TV adaptations turned the heroine(s) into Japanese characters, with slight variations in plot. The original title was based on Ellery Queen's 1930s Tragedy of... books which ran from X to Z (translated into Japanese as ...no Higeki respectively).

The new version of the story will have Takei playing two different characters. One is Mako, the daughter of the Watsuji (W) family, owners of a major business conglomerate. She has always lived in comfort, and as a result, she yearns to finally grasp life with her own hands. The other character is Satsuki, a show pub dancer who lives a solitary and destitute life in a corner of the city and who desires money and power. The drama appears to follow the concept of two women who exchange lives, leading to various tragic events for both of them. --Tokyograph

Kusunoki Taketo is a single 30-year old dentist. A playboy, he will hit on all his female patients. Chigusa is a 24-year old typical OL, her only objective in life is to snare a wealthy and good-looking man for a husband. However, Chigusa's reputation precedes her, and is looked down upon by other OL, for being so obvious and tenacious in her search for a man. On one of her date with a eligible man from the company next door, she wins a holiday for two to Bali. It is here in Bali that she has a one night stand with Taketo.

After their one night together, while sightseeing in Bali, Taketo is reunited with his first love, Aya. She is a famous model, and is in Bali, holidaying with her latest boyfriend. Taketo had loved Aya deeply, but she was more interested in pursuing her dream of becoming a model. She had left him for another man, who had promised to launch her modelling career.

Upon their return to Tokyo, everyone goes their separate way. However, Chigusa is one day reunited with Taketo, when she goes to his clinic to fix her terrible toothache. After much trial and tribulations, they become a couple, with Chigusa moving in with Taketo. Unfortunately, Chigusa doesn't feel very secure with Taketo, due to his playboy ways and his past with all the other women. On top of that, Aya is trying to get back with Taketo, and causes much mischief in Chigusa's shaky relationship with Taketo. And then there's Taketo's father, Kotaro, who disliked Aya and thinks Chigusa is just more of the same.

Synopsis
Togo is 37, married, has no kids and lives with his mother. He is a television commercial director and has won numerous awards for his works. What he most wants to do is make commercials that people will long remember. It is the commercials that he personally doesn't like though, that gain the most recognition. He's even complained to one of the younger guys that he works with about his boss getting on his back for trying to put too much artistic creativity into his commercials. His boss wants him to simply make commercials the way the clients ask for.

Togo's wife Sumiko, who is not even pregnant, receives baby presents on just about a daily basis from her mother-in-law. She tries to play the "good daughter-in-law" by politely accepting the gifts. Her mother-in-law seems to be mentally punishing Sumiko for not giving her a grandchild, but it appears that Sumiko really does not want to get pregnant.

Not being able to have children, and work not going the way he wants starts eating at Togo. It is just at this time that his life takes a big turn...One day when he is supposed to meet a model that his friend wants to introduce him to; he mistakenly takes a woman by the name of Aki for the model. After getting to know her, Aki tells him "I don't want a relationship or to get married. I just want you to help me to have a child," and things begin to heat up from there.

Aki, who works at a foreign-affiliated computer manufacturer, is your typical career woman. Her parents divorced when she was young, and she lives with her mother and younger sister Masami. Because of a traumatic experience that she had when she was young, she has lost all faith in men.

Before meeting Aki, Togo was about to give up on have a bigger family. So the more he meets Aki, the more he seriously starts considering her offer. The plan they come up with is after Aki has the baby, they won't ever see each other again. But after the baby is born (a boy, whom Aki names "Seiji"), both Togo and Aki start having a change of heart.

Sumiko later finds out about Togo's secret. And just when Togo has made up his mind to leave her for Aki, Sumiko starts striking back. Both their friends and families wind up getting involved, and before you know it Aki and Togo begin slipping apart.
Who should Togo really be with?
What has possessed Aki to go this far just to have a child?
How will Sumiko get revenge?

This is an all new kind of melodrama about a man that wants children, but can't have them with his wife; and a single-woman that wants to have a child of her own. It is also about what children mean to both sexes. --Fuji TV (corrections by Surge79uwf)
Synopsis
In this home comedy, Makiko Esumi stars as Makoto Tachibana, a manager of an omusubi cafe. One day, she meets Sanshiro (Ikki Sawamura), a secretary at a paper shredder company, and half a year later, they already decide to get married. But when Makoto meets Sanshiro's family, a battle begins between her and her mother-in-law (Yoko Nogiwa). Their conflict is rooted in the opposing ideals of "working woman" and "housewife," which has previously been explored in dramas such as "Double Kitchen" and "Triple Kitchen" (in which Esumi and Nogiwa played similar roles).

Immediately after that, Waga runs into Asami Naruse (Matsuyuki Yasuko). He manages to pull himself together and leave the scene.

An investigation team is established led by two detectives Shuichiro Imanishi (Watanabe Ken) and Masaya Yoshimura (Nagai Masaru), but they have difficulty making any headway. Meanwhile, by coincidence Waga bumps into Asami again. Asami is a stage actress has her own dark past. Soon the two fall in love. But Waga is already engaged to Ayaka Tadokoro (Kyono Kotomi). ==Synopsis==
A woman's life all depends on her looks. So what happens if she's born ugly? This story is about a girl, nowhere near attractive, who was born where ugliness runs in the family.

This pitiful girl, who has no luck with men, thanks to her "not so pretty" looks, turned to her last resort: a face lift. She travels all the way to the Mediterranean to transform into a living beauty. Now she can finally get her hands on love and happiness. After returning to Japan, she starts a glamorous life as a fashion model: something she had always longed for.

Still, day after day, she is obsessed with the feeling that her big secret may come to light. The face lift was able to change her face, but not her "ugly personality."

She's an artificial beauty: vulnerable, fragile, and struggling for love. Will she manage to get the love of her life?

This is the ultimate love story that portrays every woman's dream. Be ready for a hilarious, stylish, gorgeous but sad romance.

Honami Saotome is made out of plastic. She's the artificial beauty. Honami seems to have the ideal life, working as a fashion model. Actually, behind her perfect face is a unfortunate girl, born into a family that has a long history of "the ugly bug." During her childhood, she was bullied for being ugly, and dumped tragically by the boy she liked. To bid farewell to all that and start a new life, she decides to have plastic surgery on her entire body. Thanks to her decision, she now leads the life of a princess. Nobody knows that behind her glamorous lifestyle, is a girl afraid that her secret may be found out, or that her face may fall apart. She struggles with her ugly personality that just won't wash away. Though Honami has the inner strength of never giving up, her arrogance of doing anything for her own happiness is just too much.

The other leading character is Ryusui Fujishima, the heir to a grand master of flower arrangement, whose philosophy is, "flower arrangement starts from hating flowers." Within this friendly gentleman who hates formality, is a lonely heart that won't let others in. This is a man that shows no arrogance despite the position he's in. He's actually tired of high society where relationships are just superficial. Ryusui is a man who values essence more than appearance, whether it's flowers or people. Thus, he is attracted not to Honami's looks, but to her tough and bold personality: like a wild flower growing between rocks.
Synopsis
Shomuni 2 is a sequel from Shomuni, a popular comedic drama serial. It continues where it left off when the female employees from GA-2, deemed "the graveyard of all female employees" for its inane daily job routines of changing light bulbs, used toilet rolls and organising flower appreciation nights, saved the company in the final episode of Shomuni.

However, Manpan Corporation has changed. The multi-national company is now run in a totalitarian fashion. Closed circuit cameras are placed in every nook and cranny of the company to monitor the daily routines of employees. Even the basins in the toilets are not spared (though, obviously, the cubicles are) from scrutiny. This is a result of the Personnel Department, led by the evil Terasaki and Nonomura, who are (again) seeking to find a reason to save up on company budget.

GA-2 was dissolved before the start of the first episode, and its employees were out-sourced to other subsidiary companies. Tokunaga Azusa, the oldest (and only one single married) female employee in GA-2, is working as a caddy at a golf club. Maruhashi Ume, the most ambitious member of GA-2, works at a fast food joint. Miyashita Kana, the "company executive killer", is an interior garden designer at a tycoon's house. Tsukahara Sawako, the most incompetent of GA-2 employees, is now a traffic warden for a construction firm. Himukai Rie, the part-time fortune teller, now works at a bridal shop, and finally, Tsuboi Chinatsu, the "de facto" leader of GA-2, is now working at a fish market.

GA-2 Section Chief Inoue is the only member from GA-2 still working at Manpan, but he has been posted to a mundane office job and is due to retire in an Early Retirement Scheme.

The Personnel Department, well aware of the vicious backlash the new totalitarian measures have generated, decide to pass all the 'credit' to Kamiya, a naive and enthusiastic university undergraduate. He becomes a pariah to the company in the eyes of every one of his co-workers, and he cannot understand why.

While inviting the employees of GA-2 for his farewell party, Inoue speaks of the current situation in Manpan to the GA-2 employees. They are shocked at the way things have become at Manpan, and, to true GA-2 nature, it is not the company that they are interested in. The GA-2 employees hatch a plan to make the executives (advised by the Personnel Department) take back all of the measures initiated, as well as all of the employees that they have out-sourced.
Synopsis
On Hatoma, a small island in Okinawa state part of Japan's southern sea frontier, the social environment is suffering. With the last student of the elementary school leaving the place, the closing of the school is a virtual given. Mr. Nakama (Ogata Ken), decides to do something about it - and heads for Tokyo to recruit his grandson. Rebuffed by his daughter, however, he decides to adopt another child. He finds Ruri (Narumi Riko), a mature girl of 11 who distrusts people due to the fact that her mother (Nishida Naomi) doesn't care much about her, but after seeing Mr. Nakama's true intentions, allows him to take her to the island. Unfortunately, the local teacher, Ms. Sanae (Konishi Manami), who was banking on the school's closing to be able to go somewhere else, is resentful of Ruri and makes light of her city fashion (including permed hair, fake curls, and miniskirts), which leads to a big showdown between her and Ruri - and the people who were enthusiastic about her suddenly begin to have their doubts, and only Mr. Nakama and his wife Megumi (Baisho Mitsuko) take Ruri's side strongly. Following into the island is Mr. Kawashima (Takenouchi Yutaka), a mysterious man who saves Ruri from drowning following the fight - and who becomes her conscience and friend in her daily life in the island. But is Kawashima what he seems? Or did he come to the island to run away from Tokyo - and possibly a crime he may have been involved in there? Katsumura and Nishiyama play a local married couple of neighbors, Kashu and Igawa a local unmarried couple of neighbors, all of them willing to help Ruri in their own way. ==Synopsis==
Kyoichi Suzuki is an average college student in his junior year. Although he's not in one of the top universities, he's satisfied with his college life studying architecture. Kyoichi left home and is finally on his own, living in a beat-up apartment in Tokyo. However, this apartment building is home to some out-of-the-ordinary residents, who are always bugging Kyoichi. His next-door neighbor hits Kyoichi up for a loan when he finds out that Kyoichi just got paid. His other next- door neighbor who works at a nightclub, always calls Kyoichi, demanding him to come pick her up, because she's so drunk. Other than that, Kyoichi is satisfied with his normal life, until he meets a girl one day...

Kyoichi comes home from his part-time job as a night-time security guard. He returns to his room to find a girl sleeping on his bed-a girl he has never seen before. She looks a bit older than Kyoichi, and is quite beautiful. Kyoichi can't believe his eyes.

Kyoichi closes the door, and goes outside to the entrance of the apartment, to make sure he's in the right apartment and room. There's no mistake. He returns inside...but the girl is gone. There's nobody in his room. Was it just his imagination? Was he hallucinating? Kyoichi can't understand what just happened.

Later, he discovers that something is missing from his grocery bag-the Chinese noodles he was looking forward to eating are gone...

This is how Kyoichi first meets Surumi Kataoka. After they meet, Surumi continues living in Kyoichi's room.

She points to an apartment visible from Kyoichi's room, and says that the guy living there dumped her for another girl. Surumi says that she's waiting to check out the girl she was dumped for. Kyoichi doesn't know if he ought to believe her or not.

All Kyoichi knows is that while Surumi is such a charming girl, the expression on her face is sad at times.

Kyoichi is not that disappointed about sharing his room with a cute girl. He starts to think that this lifestyle may go on forever, until one day, Surumi suddenly disappears-just like the day she suddenly appeared. All she leaves for Kyoichi are unanswered questions.
*Ever since his role in Kono Yo no Hate, he seems to have been typecasted as the sad, gloomy suitor who can't love a woman without hurting himself. His role in Kyohansha, one of his first as a villain, may have been a slight switch, as the dorama's mood remains dark.
Maria works in a bar to make money for her sister Nana's eyes' operation. When she was little, she burnt her house. Her father died and Nana became blind. Shirou who deserted his life as a famous pianist starts to live with Maria, but he doesn't know what to do...
Review
This dorama is too dark for casual genre viewers. Although Honami Suzuki emerged as a multi-talented actress who could handle any sort of role, Hiroshi Mikami seems to have been typecast as a sad suitor for a woman since then. Nonetheless, their chemistry is strong and makes you want to go along with them as their outside troubles arise and exhort them to not give up on their love.
