Choi Jin Hyuk spent the early part of his trainee days he was focusing on being the best artist and was thoroughly preparing himself for that. He appeared in 2006, in the KBS reality talent show ''Survival Star Audition'', he won the top prize, and it was his first stepping stone for him to launch a successful career not only in showbiz but also acting. He was cast in his first ever leading role in SBS' [[It's Okay, Daddy's Girl]], he alongside co-star [[Moon Chae Won]] received a lot of praise by critics, audiences were receptive for the melodramatic flourishes in the story about a young woman that after her father has a brain hemorrhage decides to step out on her own and decides to be independent away of her fathers money.

Choi Jin Hyuk previous appearances up to that point were for him having bit parts in both dramas and drama specials, his first foray in a leading role prove to be a successful one that made him stand out from other actors at the time. He followed it up by starring in tvN's romance comedy [[I Need Romance]], a highly successful drama series that was hugely popular with female viewers nationwide in their 20s in 30s. Choi Jin Hyuk was highly praised by his performance.

In 2012, he starred in another hit romantic comedy [[Panda and Hedgehog]], In 2013, he gained a lot of recognition for his appearance in the fantasy drama [[Gu Family Book]], his supporting role in the drama earned her a lot of praise by critics and audiences. He won a couple of acting awards for his performance. He later starred in a couple of successful projects, once again in supporting roles, both being [[Kim Eun Sook]]'s teen drama series [[Heirs]] and the action film [http://chinesemov.com/2014/The-Divine-Move.html The Divine Move]. In both instances, he was praised by critics for the depth and nuance in each of his couple of performances.

In 2014, he starred in the highly successful medical drama romance [[Emergency Couple (tvN)|Emergency Couple]], his performance was praised as well as his chemistry with co-star [[Song Ji Hyo]]. He then starred in a supporting role in MBC's [[Fated to Love You (MBC)|Fated to Love You]], it was a remake of the highly successful Taiwanese drama of the same name. He later followed it up with a leading role in MBC's [[Pride and Prejudice]], the romance legal drama received high viewership over the course of its run.

He was discharged less than a year later because of a knee injury. In 2017, he made his drama comeback in the highly successful crime thriller [[Tunnel]], critics and audiences were in utter awe at the depth and nuances of his portrayal of lead character Hwayang police station's criminal sergeant detective Park Gwan Ho.

In 2018, he took the leading role in the romantic comedy-drama [[Devilish Joy]], and he is set to appear in SBS' [[An Empress's Dignity]].
