Synopsis
Onodera Tatsuya had proposed to Maria and soon they were happily starting life as a married couple. However, their happiness were short-lived, as Tatsuya had suddenly disappeared one day. Puzzled over her husband's disappearance, Maria remembered Tatsuya telling her about Mihamajima, a heart-shaped island in the archipelago of the Okinawan Ryukyu islands. She decided to head over to the island, to try and locae her missing husband.
Tsuruda Kameko is a middle-aged midwife who had struck the million dollar jackpot. She was tired of working at a Tokyo hospital, with all its abortions and complicated natural childbirths, and so with the money won, she decided to retire from her job and travel the world. Her first stop was Mihamajima, and there she met Choro, who had impressed upon her the need for more midwives around the area. She decided to open a midwifery clinic there, and called it "Tsurukame".
One day, Maria shows up at Tsurukame, and is surprised to see Kameko there, as back in Tokyo, she had met Kameko before while having her check up done at the hospital where Kameko worked. Maria then tells Kameko that she is pregnant... --NHK
