==''Cains: Feel'' and ''Malice Mizer'' ==
Gackt joined “Cains: Feel” as the auxiliary drummer, sometime after that the vocalist left the band, Gackt became an official member by becoming the leading voice of the group.
In October 1995, ''Malice Mizer'', a Visual Kei band that was rapidly escalating, left behind its vocalist Tetsu and the first members of the group Mana, Közi, Yu~ki, and Kami proposed that Gackt replace him. Under Gackt influence, the band style became more nostalgic and romantic, with a greater influence of both classical and French pop music. In terms of costumes, the band abandoned its Gothic style for colorful historical costumes, together with the band Gackt released the albums ''Voyage 〜sans retour〜'' and the very successful ''Merveilles'', with which he achieved fame throughout the country, giving a great boost to the group. During his four-year period (1995-1999) as an occasional vocalist and pianist, he composed some of the band's most recognized songs such as "Le Ciel". However, in 1999, as his autobiography indicates, the differences with the other members, obsession, the sudden inflow of money, and his isolation from the band led to his departure and start of his solo career.

==Gackt's Soloist Career== 
 
He began his solo career on January 1, 1999. After completing recordings, his first solo concert was the "99 Gackt RESURRECTION" tour, which featured 12 dates throughout Japan, followed on May 12 by his debut release, ''Mizérable'', the first solo single with his band called GacktJob, Gackt's live support band, that was a resounding success in Japan and began to mark his solo career. with the '''Nippon Crown label'''. The album came in second place and stayed on '''Oricon's''' charts for 12 weeks. It earned gold certification for the sale of more than 200,000 copies by the '''Recording Industry Association of Japan''' (RIAJ). He used the same title for the single "''Mizérable''", which reached second place, and stayed on the lists for nine weeks. In July, he performed in the "Shock Wave Illusion" in Osaka and Tokyo. On August 11, Gackt released his second single, "''Vanilla''". He reached fourth place, stayed on the charts for 10 weeks and enjoyed considerable success and earned gold certification by RIAJ. 

In 2000, on February 9 and 16, his third and fourth singles, "''Mirror''" and "''Oasis''", were released, reaching the ninth and sixth place, respectively, and both remained on the charts for six weeks, his fifth single was released on March 8, "''Sekirei ~seki-ray~''" which reached eighth place and held six weeks on the charts. Gackt joined support guitarist and associate producer Chachamaru and designed two guitars for '''Caparison Guitars''', a manufacturer of high-end electric guitars called "Mercury" and "Venus" that he occasionally uses in his live performances. On April 26, he released his first album "Mars". He reached the third place, stayed on the charts for five weeks, and was certified gold by RIAJ. The next day, Gackt began a national tour, "Mars Sora Kara no Homonsha -Kaisō-", which included 16 dates, and on July 1, he performed the final concert of the tour at the '''Yokohama Arena'''. On August 30, he released his sixth single, "''Saikai ~Story~''". He reached seventh place and stayed on the charts for six weeks. The seventh single "''Secret Garden''" was released on November 16, reached tenth place and stayed on the charts for five weeks. On December 16, he released the first edition of the ''Platinum Boxes'' series. 

In 2001, his eighth single, "''Kimi no tame ni dekiru koto''", was released on March 14, it reached sixth place for 18 weeks on the charts, a personal record he held until 2009. On April 25, his second album "Rebirth" was released. It was the first conceptual album of his career, conceived around the fictional narrative of World War II called "Requiem et Reminiscence". The album includes previously released singles, "''Sekirei ~seki-ray~''" and "''Secret Garden''". It reached third place and remained 21 weeks on the charts, he received the gold certification from RIAJ for this accomplishment. The "Requiem et Reminiscence" tour began on May 3 and included 18 dates at 14 locations throughout Japan. The final concert of the tour was held on June 23 at the '''Yokohama Arena'''. On September 5, he released his ninth single, "''Another World''", it was the first of his singles to reach second place and stayed on the charts for 17 weeks it also sold more than 250,000 copies, becoming his best-selling single, receiving the gold certification from RIAJ for the third time. After the September 11, 2001 attacks in New York, Gackt wrote a song for world peace, which was released as a single under the title "''Jūnigatsu no Love Song''". It reached fifth place and remained on the charts for nine weeks. Between 2001 and 2004, the song was re-released for English, Korean and Chinese versions, which were always released before Christmas Day. In the second half of 2001, during the release of "''Another World''" Gackt began work on his second conceptual project Moon.

In 2002, his eleventh single, "''Wasurenai kara''", was released on April 24th. It reached fourth place and remained on the charts for five weeks. On June 6, Gackt began the national tour "In House," in which he presented his new concept. On June 16, his third album "Moon" was released this is Gackt's best-selling album, ranked second on the charts and earned a fourth gold certification from RIAJ. On September 22, at the '''Workers' Gymnasium''' in Beijing, China, a major musical event "'''China-Japan: Holding Hands, Moving Together'''" was held as part of the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the normalization of China-Japanese diplomatic relations, in which Gackt was one of Japan's representatives. On October 14, he continued the concept project with a new national "Kagen no Tsuki" tour that included 22 dates at 15 locations throughout Japan. The final concert of the tour was held on December 24 at the '''Yokohama Arena'''. 
On March 19, his thirteenth single "''Kimi Ga Oikaketa Yume''" was released. this being one of five to reach second place and stay ten weeks on the charts, he obtained RIAJ gold certification. On May 5, he began the national tour "Jōgen no Tsuki" continuing with the concept of the previous tour, including 13 dates at 8 locations in Japan ending on July 6 at the Yokohama Arena. On June 11, his fourteenth single "Tsuki no uta" was released and on June 30, the fifteenth single "''Lu:na/Oasis''", reaching third and fifth place respectively, both received RIAJ gold certification. On September 27, he acted as a special guest on the television program "'''Kingdom Rock'''" Show in commemoration of the 45th anniversary of '''TV Asahi'''. On October 2, Gackt performed John Lennon's song "''Love''" at the "'''Dream Power: John Lennon Super Live'''" concert organized by Yoko Ono at the '''Saitama Super Arena'''. Apart from the film and studio recordings for his projects, on September 26 Gackt published his autobiography "'''Jihaku'''", and on October 30 the novel "'''Moon Child Chikoka'''", a literary version of the film with the same name. On November 12, his sixteenth single "''Last Song''" was released, he reached the fifth place and stayed on the lists for 13 weeks. It received gold certification from RIAJ. On New Year's Eve 2003, Gackt performed for the first time at the 54th "'''Kōhaku Uta Gassen'''" music festival a great honor for Japanese artists. 


==''S.K.I.N.''==
S.K.I.N is a superband formed by Yoshiki Hayashi ('''X Japan'''), Sugizo ('''X Japan''' and '''LUNA SEA'''), Gackt (Ex. '''MALICE MIZER'''), Miyavi (Ex. '''Dué le Quartz''') and Ju-Ken, a famous bassist of support. The project was announced on August 2006 by Yoshiki and Gackt and confirmed Sugizo and Miyavi as members in May 2007, S.K.I.N. is one of the first Japanese supergroups and aims to be a reference in the expansion of Japanese rock worldwide, at first, each member would play their main instrument not without ruling out the possibility of a bass player being included in the group or any of the four playing the bass as well. Since June of 2007 nothing regarding study material has been announced.

 
==''YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz''==
At first, this was the name Gackt gave to his European tour in 2010 under the motto "I want there to be more real men in Japan! So let's do something to encourage men to change!" This is how this new project came about, maintaining the original lineup during 2009, composed of: Gackt, You, Chachamaru, Chirolyn and Jun-ji. The first concert took place on March 21st in Kawasaki, where only men registered in the fan club could attend. The concert was called "GACKT Danson Jyohi Hadaka Matsuri". From 16 to 24 July took place the first European tour "GACKT COMING TO EUROPE 2010. ATTACK OF THE "YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz". A total of 5 concerts were held in 4 countries: England, France, Spain, and Germany.
On August 29th the concert was held in a bathing suit, where only people who were dressed in a bathing suit could attend.

Following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan in March 2011 and the "SHOW YOUR HEART" campaign (a campaign founded by Gackt to help victims in the disaster area), YFC became an official band, announcing new members including Luna Sea's drummer Shinya, Takumi, U:Zo and the Indie Rock band vocalist Jon Underdown and a tour of Asia and Europe in a press conference on June 9.
Part of the proceeds from YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz's tour were donated to help victims of the 2011 Japan earthquake, especially to help children orphaned by the disaster.
In March 2012 they released their first and, so far, only Album, YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz I. However, on July 4, 2012 (the day that coincided with Gackt's 39th birthday) the band performed their last concert, separating until further notice.
