Synopsis
Inspired by the true story of students from a Fukui Prefecture fishery high school who dreamed of developing space food, Asano Shunichi, a rookie teacher thought he had reached the peak of his life by fulfilling his dream of working as a teacher near the sea. However, reality soon hits when he realised that the school is on the brink of closure, and his students are disengaged to what he is teaching. Refusing to give up, Asano's bright and straightforward personality slowly helps him to find hope.

- Sabakan, Uchu e Iku marks the first time in 15 years since a school-themed drama was produced for the Monday 21:00 time slot. The last drama was Taisetsu na Koto wa Subete Kimi ga Oshiete Kureta which aired in January 2011.
