Synopsis
In 1997, all adults died because of a T Makuhara-type virus in Makuhara City. Shindo Yamato, Takigawa Takeru and other children under the age of 20 were the only ones who survived. They united in order to survive and stood up to a national conspiracy. Before parting ways, they promised to meet in this place again 20 years later. It is now 2017. Yamato is a boring science teacher at a junior high school while Takeru has become an eccentric lawyer. The Makuhara district redevelopment project is in progress and a memorial library is being constructed as a symbol of the city’s rebirth on the former site where the man-made satellite fell. However, an explosion occurs at the construction site due to the old gas pipes and there are casualties. On 24 December, the appointed day, Yamato and Takeru meet again after 20 years. As the two of them walk around this place of memories, they find Iwanaga Akira who is now a top architect at an architect firm and is involved in the construction of the library. Their joy is fleeting as Akira asks them to lend money. Akira is not contactable after that and they learn that he had borrow money from the other Makuhara survivors. Takeru visits Eguchi Morio who has become the owner of a restaurant called Trattoria Riki. Akira came to borrow money from him too but he rejected his request. Mori seems to want to keep a distance from the Makuhara survivors for some reason. He tells Takeru not to contact him again. Meanwhile, Yamato gives Matsumoto Suzuko, who was his girlfriend 20 years ago, a call. She is a single mother. Her husband lost his life in the explosion at the library while he was working. Akira had visited her and when he heard that her husband died in the accident, his face went pale and he left. Yamato visits the architect firm where Akira works but Akira has already resigned. He is told by Akira’s junior Kazama that Akira had insisted on stopping the construction of the library after the explosion and had clashed with the company. Yamato and Takeru guess that it is because that T Makuhara-type virus which caused the adults to die, has resurrected. The two of them sneak into the library’s construction site and see something unexpected down there... -- Jdrama Weblog
