Bitter is the appropriate adjective for all the characters in Nyokei Kazoku. The story is lead by 35-year Yajima Fujiyo, the eldest daughter of a wealthy matrilineal family. Due to a short-term illness, Yoshizo passed away, leaving behind three daughters who all dislike each other, and a multi-billion yen estate. During the review of the will, a mistress named Fumino is revealed, who the family didn't know about. Fumino has an ally within the Yajima corporation - business associate Ono Uichi. Uichi is handling the estate but definitely does not deserve such trust, being involved in all sorts of backroom financial shenanigans. Hovering in the background is Yoshizaburo Umemura, the head of a Japanese traditional dance school. Synopsis
