DramaWiki focuses ONLY on the primary coverage areas. For example, in Japanese dramas, DramaWiki only allows statistics within the Japan area. HK dramas - only within Hong Kong. Korean dramas - only within South Korea. And so on... DramaWiki does not allow statistics of XXXXX dramas to be posted for areas outside of XXXXX, such as the U.S., Phillipines, Australia, or wherever else.. Concerns over ratings information
Addictus, I notice you've been adding lots of ratings to various entries, can you please also add the source where these ratings come from whereever you decide to add them. Thanks. --Ruroshin 21:51, 21 Jun 2006 (EDT)
I've also noticed that one or more people are changing the ratings numbers on various Korean drama articles. Not to target Addictus in particular, everyone must keep in mind that television ratings can come from several sources - each of which have their own methods (market size, sampling locations, etc.) If you see a viewership rating that does not match the data you have, do not change it immediately. Again, keep in mind that for the same TV show, numbers WILL differ between research firms. As Ruroshin pointed out, citing the source where you obtain the statistics is very vital to DramaWiki.
One other thing... About the ratings lists... I think it is actually a bad idea overall. The lists seem to have been generated with very specific parameters in mind. For example, on the Japanese drama list, they seem to focus only on trendy dramas. Keep in mind that various resources on-line do not recognize ALL dramas. For example, J!-ENT explicitly mentions that they:
- leave out all dramas before 1986 (Oshin????)
- leave out ALL NHK dramas (taiga dramas, morning dramas, etc.)
- leave out dramas with 20 episodes or more (even Kinpachi Sensei!!!)
Keep in mind that DramaWiki recognizes ALL Eastern Asian dramas from ALL years and from ALL television networks. Overall, whenever you use information from an source, not only MUST you cite the source, but you MUST also keep in mind the method in which the information was formulated. The ratings you added seem to be wrong. Some don't even make sense (i.e. a >10% difference between national and seoul ratings). You always credit TMS Media Korea. But when I compare "your" numbers with the figures on the TNS website I see a huge difference. Please credit your source(s) properly. Ratings for areas outside of primary coverage area
This also goes for other things, such as television air dates and times. Keep all information about a TV drama localized to the show's primary coverage area. Groink 23:26, 3 Jul 2006 (EDT)
