Synopsis
Dazai Osamu Monogatari focuses on the personal life of one of Japan's most famous writers, Osamu Dazai (1909-1948) and is based on the views of Dazai's wife and lovers and interspersed with some quotes from his writing to dramatize the points at which his private life and literary works intersected. Dazai took his own life five years before Japan was introduced to television.
