About Ito Ayumi

Born in Tokyo in 1980. Ito's main talents include ballet and hip-hop dance. Ito was active as a child model, appearing in both magazine and CM advertising. In 1993, she made her film debut in "Mizu no Tabibito?. Her distinctive style then led to her superb acting in the 1996 feature, "Swallowtail?. Ito received a Best New Actress Award and Best Supporting Actress Award from the Japanese Academy Awards for this role. She received the Best New Actress Award from the Takasaki Film Festival. She participated in a selective group of projects during her high school years. She studied in New York City for one year beginning in early 1999. She is extremely interested in working on overseas film projects and is currently passionately pursuing her English studies to that end. She appeared in "Mizu no naka no Hachigatsu? in 1997 and this film was awarded the Grand Prix at the Asia Film Festival. This film also received the Best New Director award at the San Sebastian Film Festival.
