Synopsis

This tanpatsu is based on the novel of the same name, written by Sugihara Yukiko (ISBN 4811703073). Chiune (Sempo) Sugihara, the Japanese consular official serving in Lithuania, saved the second largest number of Jews in the Holocaust (only Oskar Schindler saved more.) He issued more than 2,000 visas to Polish refugees. This resulted in saving more than 6,000 lives. It is estimated that if the children and grandchildren of people who were saved by Sugihara were counted, there would be more than 40,000 people worldwide who owe their lives to the Sugiharas.
