Biography

Hiroko Sato moved to the Kanagawa Prefecture in her early childhood and later attended the Kanagawa Prefectural Senior High School, I Shida and in her later years at high school she was a student council president. She is a physical fitness fanatic and has studied Kendo which is useful in action roles. She has a normal job with the Japanese Nation Broadcaster NHK where she is a co-host with Takashi Matsuo and also writes the weekly review for the radio program as "Hiroko's Diary". She writes a personal blog on a semi-regular basis that contains her personal photos and day to day thoughts.

Career

She began her career in acting in 2002 in a low budget movie called "Scare", releasing her first photobook Peekaboo and her first Idol movie First Touch. In 2004 she starred in a horror movie "Cursed" that was released both locally in Japan and in the United States. From 2002 until she announced her "graduation" from gravure photography she starred in a substantial number of Idol movies shot in different locations around the world.

PORTRAIT Photobook

In 2007 she released a milestone photobook called PORTRAIT that was shot by the famous Japanese photographer Yoshihisa Marutani and published by Wanibooks Japan. It was shot in her birthplace Fukushima in a semi-rural setting and is the only work where she has posed for "Art nudes" in the European tradition. Much of the impact of this photobook was its naturalistic setting and it was shot without any makeup or fashionable clothing, a reasonably rare circumstance for a model and Idol.

Recent Acting Roles

In 2009 she had a role in a movie Asuka pairs of flowers NEO using her Kendo skills and later in 2009 starred as the heroine Chisato in an action movie called GAME☆ACTION again making good use of her martial arts skills. Between movies she performed in a live theatre production an anime fantasy Secret Akko Chan, an adaption of Himitsu no Akko-chan by Fujio Akatsuka at the Storehouse Theatre in Tokyo in July 2009.

Can't Hide Single

Hiroko Sato is a competent vocalist with experience in the recording studio. In 2005 Hiroko Sato released a single called "Can't Hide" which was a normal music CD with an accompanying DVD which contained a short movie called "Hiroko Television".

The CD/DVD was produced by Koji Shimizu and Moto "Kittz" Kitsukawa and released under the GIRLS' RECORD label. The single was generally well received and had good contemporary reviews.

Hiroko Television

The short movie is where Hiroko Sato played every role in an imaginary television station from the blonde weather girl to the newsreader and roving interviewer as well as performing the "Can't Hide" single as part of the movie.

It is a light hearted piece of comedy in the form of a skit that showcased her acting abilities to be many different people in many different roles. It is notable that she had already developed the acting skills to perform a set of roles of this type at 20 years of age.
