Ah Zhi (Huang Biren) is a hapless and simple country girl who falls in love with an artist Qiming (Terence Cao) but is forced by her mother to marry into a rich family instead. Her husband, Wenshou (Sean Say), who is ill with frequent spells of self-abuse, is a reclusive man who likes to keep to himself. Yet, he finds himself falling in love with Ah Zhi at first sight. A series of unfortunate events begin to befall on the Zhang family ever since Ah Zhi marries into the family. Ah Zhi's mother-in-law (Cai Pingkai), who is a superstitious woman, accuses her of being a jinx and begins to find her a nuisance. --- Mediacorp TV
