Synopsis
Sung Chan is a very creative and talented chef who was taken in as a child when he was orphaned by Bong Joo's family who owns the famous traditional Korean restaurant and claims descent from the last royal chef of the Joseon Dynasty. A talented chef, Bong Joo assumes that he will be the one to take over his family's restaurant and marry Joo Hee until a surprising announcement by his grandfather about a special cooking contest! Discovering the truth about their great-grandfather causes Bong Joo withdraw and then later to becomes even more determined to be a success while Sung Chan is tricked into leaving for parts unknown. Sung Chan becomes a food peddler, specializing in the freshest and best ingredients in traditional Korean cuisine. Will he ever become a chef again? Will they ever become united as "brothers" in the family again?

Notes
- According to Lee Jin Seck of JS Pictures, the production cost of Gourmet will apparently increase to 10 billion won (roughly about $10.6 million USD).
- Kim Ah Joong and Seo Ji Hye were previously attached as the lead actress, Jin Soo, but later on it was decided that Nam Sang Mi will be the one acting as the lead. The same with Han Eun Jung and Lee Tae Ran as Joo Hee but then Kim So Yun replaced them as the supporting actress of this series.
- Originally it was thought that MBC would be airing this drama but SBS finally won the rights to air this drama.
- The first episode was scheduled to be aired on the 16th of June but pushed back to the 17th to avoid ratings competition with the finale episode of the drama Yi San. SBS aired both episodes 1 and 2 on the 17th.
