Synopsis
In Japan, there are approximately 200,000 bodies per year that are handled as "unknown death", and only about 10% of them undergo autopsies by pathologists. This is the reality as determining the cause of death is still not considered a standard practice in Japan.
The story depicts the struggles of MEJ (Medical Examiner Japan), a new forensic team established under the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, as it introduces America's cause-of-death investigation system. The members will use scientific knowledge and harp reasoning not only to determine the causes of death but also to confront the "feelings of those who were left behind".
