Okina Megumi gets divorced in just 1 yr 5 mths, Got married in Feb 2004

Okina Megumi has divorced her husband, Cyber Agent's CEO Fujita Susumu as announced on 22 Jul. The two started dating from Nov 02 and registered their marriage on 26 Jan 04 before holding their wedding ceremony on 1 Feb last year. Okina made her announcement via fax to the media while Fujita announced this via his blog (I will translate the blog later) but they did not go into details on the reason for the divorce.

According to Okina's agency, the divorce application was submitted by Fujita yesterday. Okina's statement mentioned that they came to this decision after a discussion and for the sake of their future. At around 4.56pm, Fujita wrote in his blog about the divorce and had only praises for his ex-wife.

The couple first had signs of problems when there were rumours in June this year that Fujita has a lover and is supporting his ex-fiancee with 800,000 yen per month. However, they both denied such rumours and Okina stood by her husband then.

When interviewed after 6pm yesterday, Fujita said that their divorce has nothing to do with women and he doesn't have a lover. However, he did not give details on the exact reason for the divorce. On the other hand, there are also rumours that Okina was having an affair with one of the young actors when she acted in the stage play, Shuffle earlier this year.

Okina will take a break till the end of Aug and prepare for her stage play starting on 20 Oct by Sep.

Husband announces divorce from actress

Actress Megumi Okina and her husband have divorced, the advertising company president announced on his personal Web site on Friday.

Okina, 25, married President Susumu Fujita in February last year, but rumors abounded this year that their relationship was in decline. Actress Okina denied such rumors.

"I want to inform you today. My wife and I have divorced," President Fujita, 32, wrote on his home page.

"After talking with each other, we decided to take different paths in life." (July 22, 2005, Mainichi)

Okina Megumi Divorces

It turns out that rumors about a split between actress Okina Megumi (photo, 25) and her husband were true. The actress married 32-year Fujita Susumu, president of IT company Cyber Agent, only in February of last year, and up until last month she was insisting that everything was fine between them. But her agency announced the news of their divorce today. In the statement she said that they had discussed and mutually agreed on the split. Last year's romance was seen as part of a boom in eligible showbusiness women going for high-profile and wealthy IT types. (July 22 2005, Japan Zone)

Okina Megumi Divorces - Translated from Gendai Net

Since Okina Megumi and Fujita Susumu's divorce announcement last week, the focus is now on how much alimony Okina will get. The general view is that she stands to get about 3 billion yen. Based on her monthly allowance of 3 million and her income during her teens hitting 80 million per year, it would be unrealistic if she gets only 100 million or so. Based on Cyber Agent's market value of 160 billion and Fujita having a 30% stake of about 50 billion, an alimony of about 3 billion is not unthinkable. (Jul 26 2005, Dorama World)

Starlet discards marriage shackles amid rumors of saucy 'shuffle'

Actress Megumi Okina is suspected of playing more than roles, sparking speculation that a penchant for pretty co-stars led to her lightning-fast divorce last week, according to Shukan Josei (8/9).

IT company boss Susumu Fujita, the 25-year-old thespian's now ex-hubby, broke the news of their break-up with a fax forwarded to the media on July 22, saying that they had come up with "a difficult to solve problem" that prompted them to agree to start their lives anew and separately just 17 months after they wed.

Okina confirmed the split later.

Even though the divorce was quick, in some circles it wasn't totally unexpected. Early this year, Okina announced she was taking a break from celebrity work. But then, shortly after, she suddenly announced she planned to pursue a career as a stage actress.

Okina's sudden change of heart prompted whispers that she and Fujita had separated or were on poor terms. In her first interview after announcing her career change, she joked about her relationship with Fujita.

"He doesn't eat breakfast on weekdays, so the only time I ever cook for him is on weekends," Shukan Josei quotes the actress saying.

Those who know workaholic Fujita say they're not surprised the couple rarely got to meet.

"He's the type who'll plug away on a job until he's got it finished to his satisfaction. It's quite common for him to sleep at work," an IT industry insider tells Shukan Josei.

It didn't take long for the couple's nuptials to be labeled a "shumatsukon," or day-off double.

At first, Okina laughed at the moniker, but in recent months she'd become decidedly prickly about the quip and her office dismissed suggestions of a marital rift by saying the couple's lengthy separations on weekdays was "normal."

"There was nothing 'normal' about that in the celebrity world," a veteran entertainment beat reporter tells Shukan Josei. "The reality is that Okina was sick of being a housewife and returned to acting. She's an actress through and through. She'd rather be out performing than bound to her house and husband."

Others suggest that the split was a result of Fujita's unrealistic expectations.

"Fujita loves nothing more than being the center of attention. When he married Okina, he probably expected this would make people stand up and take notice of him. He was probably thinking that he had found himself the ideal trophy wife. But, in reality, the effect of the marriage was totally opposite to what he had expected. No matter what he did in the business, everybody started referring to him as Okina's husband. That made him really mad," the IT insider tells the women's weekly. "Fujita just wanted to become famous."

The women's weekly says there may have been even more sinister reasons for the couple coming apart. It claims to have received fairly detailed claims that Fujita was having a fling with one of the women in his office.

"Even before Mr. Fujita married Okina, he had been seeing Ms. X and they were engaged at one stage. But Fujita ditched Ms. X and married Okina instead. Fujita had to buy Ms. X an apartment and pay her 500,000 yen a month in compensation. Fujita still sees Ms. X once a week," the weekly quotes a letter sent to its editorial offices.Ms. X, however, denies the claims.

"There's absolutely nothing to them," she tells Shukan Josei. "I haven't seen Fujita in more than three years and I never even call him. And we were never engaged."

While Fujita seems to be off the hook, the same can't quiet be said for his former spouse - or at least that's what one close pal claims in the weekly.

"Fujita has recently found conclusive proof that his wife was playing around on him," the IT company president's pal tells Shukan Josei. "Okina has become very fond of a young actor with whom she performed in the play 'Shuffle' earlier this year. She's had regular secret meetings with the actor even after 'Shuffle's' run was over. And Fujita finally learned about those meetings." (By Ryann Connell) (Jul 28 2005, Mainichi)
