Synopsis
Real-life experiences of women in their prime over the last century
The First Night
The first night tells the history of Setouchi Harumi, a Japanese woman who firstly married in an arranged marriage and was not happy, therefore she commits adultery with Ryota Kinoshita. She decides to leave her home after being spanked by her husband after confessing the adultery, leaving behind her small daughter. She becomes interested in literacture and starts to go to a literacture discussion club, where she meets Kosugi Shinbo (Abe Hiroshi), a famous writer. They get involved in yet another adulterous relationship (Kosugi has a wife). Kosugi teaches her how to be a writer, and she succeeds on publishing her first novel.
