About David Chen
The first born son to an airline pilot and artist, David Chen grew up in the capital city of Taiwan. As a young teen, he moved to Los Angeles from Taipei to receive an American education. In the late '90s, his talented voice won him various karaoke contests throughout southern California. After receiving his bachelor's degree in economics, he returned to Taiwan in 2001 to pursue his dream of an acting career. His fresh face and tall stature instantly landed him many opportunities, and he soon began modeling for fashion giants such as Diesel and DKNY, as well as making appearances in TV ads and music videos. In 2002, he won TTV's online casting poll for the drama "Star", and was asked to play the lead role. In the same year, both his athletic and acting performance as Ming An (Iceman) distinguished him from the rest of the cast in the popular drama series My MVP Valentine, further boosting his popularity in Taiwan and abroad. A glimpse of his versatility and urban roots can be seen in the Mandarin version of the 2004 Academy Award Nominated animation, Shark Tale, for which he voiced the starring role of Oscar, originally done by Will Smith.
