About Yu

Yokoyama Yu is one of the oldest, funniest, and talkative member along with Murakami Shingo in Kanjani8. He is also the only one who doesn't use his real name, which is Kimitaka. The decision to actually change the name Kimitaka was because of the company's head Johnny H. Kitagawa. Johnny san kept calling him Yu and thought that was easier and Yokoyama noticed his name was changed to "Yu" when he watched a program he appeared in and started to call himself Yu since then.

The reason he entered Johnny's Entertainment is because his classmate was in Johnny's Entertainment and his mother saw his classmate being a backdancer on the TV Yokoyama was watching and said, " My Kimitaka could do better than him!!" and decided to apply Yokoyama into Johnny's Entertainment. *Source: TV show when Murakami and Yokoyama were the only guests*

Even he is bought for his funny talks and talks most of the time on shows, he does not get to sing many lines but he can actually dance and he has his own style but a Jr. told him that " Yokoyama, you actually suck at singing" and seemed to be actually shocked at those words for that moment*Source from Spirits DVD at MC part*

Yokoyama may not be as sexually appealing and have much drama roles as Nishikido Ryo but he still is the person who will entertain you everytime you hear something out of his mouth. He can go on and on and you can never really get tired of his comments and actions and that's really one of a kind. Yokoyama will continue to be the great talker and entertainer of the special group: Kanjani8
