More a drama than romance
I'm at episode 7 and while there is some romance, it feels more like the story is about how major events of the past shape our future (which also fits the title). Two of those events are not romance related (suicide of female lead's father and car crash of Kaori and Masaki affecting the college friend group). The current synopsis suggests more a romcom scenario and it's far too heavy for that. How about this: "An exploration of how major events in the past, affect our friendships, careers and lovers. After a car accident, Kanade's first love Masaki disappears for 12 years.
