Synopsis
At the beginning of China’s Reform and Opening-Up, Chen Chen faces the poverty and backwardness of her hometown and resolves to vigorously develop the local economy and transform the village. She gives up her job at the Fuhai City Construction Committee and returns to Sanjiang Village to serve as the village Party secretary. Together with young villagers such as Lin Wei Long, Chen Cai Wei, and Lin Zu Wang, she works to improve the village environment and build factories.
Throughout the process, Chen Chen encounters resistance from traditional mindsets, as well as difficult challenges involving land acquisition, investment attraction, and more. Under the leadership of Chen Chen and other grassroots cadres, the villagers advance firmly along the development strategy set by the Fuhai Municipal Party Committee and government.
