Synopsis
Hua Xiaofei, driven by her ambition to become an elite in the business world, hits rock bottom, left penniless and burdened with heavy debt. Returning home in hopes of mortgaging a family heirloom for a chance to start over, she is unexpectedly injured and falls into a coma. In an effort to awaken her, a doctor recounts a series of inspirational stories. Within her coma, Hua Xiaofei finds herself in a prosperous imperial capital, determined to start a business from scratch. There, she unexpectedly crosses paths with Xu Ziqi, the commander of the imperial guards, and Fang Lihen, the influential head of the merchants’ guild. To crack down on a major case of collusion between officials and merchants that has led to price manipulation, the Empress secretly appoints Xu Ziqi as an undercover imperial agent to gather evidence and redeem himself. Fang Lihen—Xu’s longtime friend—is implicated in the case, prompting Xu to use his connection to investigate the guild from within. Through integrity and perseverance, Hua Xiaofei’s business flourishes. Joining forces with Xu Ziqi, she helps present the guild’s account books to the Emperor, exposing crimes of bribery, monopoly, and price fixing involving members of the royal court. Justice is served, the corrupt are punished, and Hua Xiaofei ultimately marries Xu Ziqi—rising to become a legendary female merchant whose story stands as a testament to resilience, honesty, and vision.
