Synopsis[edit]

Elder princess Li Huaiyu dedicates all her efforts in assisting her brother, the young Emperor Li Huailin in governing the country, but was framed for the murder of Sima and disrupting the order of the court; and sentenced to death with a cup of poisonous wine. She survives, but with her appearance changed, and somehow assumed the identity of the fourth daughter of the Imperial Censor, Bai Zhuji. After getting a clear hold of the political situation, Li Huaiyu decides to make use of her new identity to investigate the Sima case. She intentionally gets close to the royal advisor Jiang Xuanjin, who sent her the poison wine, but discovers that Jiang Xuanjin is not the person who framed her, and decides to work together with him to investigate the case. In the process of investigation, they also destroy the corrupted ways of the court. Jiang Xuanjin puts aside his prejudice of Li Huaiyu, and realizes that she is an upright person. They also fall in love with each other.

In the end, the culprit was revealed to be the young Emperor Li Huailin, who was misguided by treacherous officers and thought he was sacrificing his sister for the greater good. He regretted his actions, and the truth was finally revealed. Li Huaiyu was able to wash away her grievances, and works alongside his brother in destroying the schemes of the corrupted and punishing the villains. Li Huailin eventually matures to become an understanding and wise ruler; and Li Huaiyu also achieves happiness with Jiang Xuanjin.
