When I first began watching this series I'll admit, I found the premise a bit peculiar but still intriguing enough to watch through its entirety. If given that chance to save someone you loved, who wouldn't take it? The series did start out very beautifully and the concept of it all was more different to what I usually see in romantic dramas. The chemistry between the lead actors is very convincing and while some character aspects were occasionally repetitive and annoying, they were out-shined by how beautifully they carried the more emotional aspects. The character of Hai Lin was somewhat more of a dull heroine but well acted by Mandy Wei. In the rare times she was smiling she was very endearing, and when she cried you cried with her. The character of You Xi (Wang Si Ping) was a bit off-putting but a role like that in a romantic drama isn't exactly rare and the actress did her best with it. Nylon Chen shone as the second male lead, Fang Qi Xiang. Among the problems with this drama, I personally don't think the acting was one of them. But that doesn't eliminate the fact this show had problems. As I mentioned earlier, the series did start out well. There were a few questionable moments but nothing that couldn't easily be ignored. Then it started getting repetitive, and it knew that. But in trying to solve that, they began to venture into soap-opera territory and with a story that already has a seer who sends you back in time when you die, that is never a good move. It became so ridiculously repetitive it became nearly painful to watch. It seemed that every time the main couple progressed in any way, fate literally drove into them. Had it been a shorter series, this would have been a much more positive review but honestly, I lost all interest in this series by the second major accident and the writers ventured into the stupidly cliche amnesia storyline. The writers wanted to make it painstakingly clear that fate hates these two characters together but did so exaggeratedly and with the same barriers in constant repetition. Skip the second half of the series and the ending will still make perfect sense. And that's probably the most disappointing part of this series - the insurmountably ridiculous ending. For the possibility that you still want to watch this series, I won't ruin the ending for you instead I will simply say this: not only do the two leads have yet another two car accidents but they finally pay a price for their tampering with fate - and it is the series' biggest flop. It's not a hugely terrible show, but there are simply so much better out there.
