Synopsis
In 1941, Ding Xiaohe, who served as the executive director's secretary of the Shanghai Examination Institute of the Wang Puppet National Government, stood at the crossroads of his life. His direct leader, Lao Tang, was attacked by political enemies. Seeing that he was desperate, Ding Xiaohe suddenly discovered that his "sister" Xiao Qing was actually an underground member of the Communist Party of China.
He had to help Lao Tang negotiate the conditions for surrender with the Military Control Commission, while protecting Xiao Qing from being discovered by Wang Puppet No. 76. He set up a careful plan to take Xiao Qing to Hong Kong with Lao Tang, but Lao Tang abandoned him and ran away. Ding Xiaohe, who was desperate, was mistakenly transferred to No. 76 by the Japanese and became a spy for the Military Control Commission by chance. After witnessing the doomsday carnival-like corruption within the Wang Puppet regime and the cold-bloodedness of the Military Control Commission, he found that he could never erase his conscience and humanity, and realized the glory of the Communist Party.
