Synopsis
As a series of bizarre cases plague the capital of the Xueyuan Kingdom, Wen Jue, an eccentric and mysterious prisoner held by the Censorate, finds himself once again drawn into a treacherous undercurrent of intrigue.
Gu Xian, a kind-hearted patrol officer, suddenly finds himself branded a wanted fugitive; in a desperate bid to clear his name, he risks everything to rescue the deranged Wen Jue from captivity. Together with Wei Nanzhu (Chief Justice of the Court of Judicial Review) and Nie Yunqi (of Liuhuai Tower), the pair investigates the "Gold Coin Mirror Revenge" case, unearthing a long-buried injustice involving the General of the Realm - a secret concealed for twenty years.
Amidst a succession of harrowing events—including a performer’s self-immolation, supernatural disturbances at the border, and a disastrous turn of events during a diplomatic marriage alliance, Wen Jue and Gu Xian navigate a perilous game of life and death. Piece by piece, they assemble the fragments of truth to expose a colossal conspiracy capable of shaking the very foundations of the dynasty.
