Park Seon Joo officially debuted by appearing in Bang Yong-guk's music video "I Remember", a year later, he went to appear in KBS2'S teen comedy-drama series Dream High 2, a sequel of the highly successful 2011's Dream High, it was moderately successful but Park Seo Joon was praised for his acting ability. He followed it up with roles in MBC's romantic comedy series I Summon You, Gold!, SBS' romance drama One Warm Word, and tvN's romance comedy A Witch's Love. Those three television series gave Park Seo Joon nationwide exposure to a wide audience and he received several nominations for his acting in those television series. He even won a few acting awards and he received a lot of praise for his performances.

Park Seo Joon also from 2013 to 2015 was the host of the hit music variety program Music Bank. In 2015, he starred in the action thriller film The Chronicles of Evil, the movie received huge praise by critics and audiences. He over the course of the year starred as the lead in a couple of television dramas from MBC, the first one was the suspenseful melodrama Kill Me, Heal Me and the second one was the romantic comedy She Was Pretty. Both television series received high viewership numbers and were considered successful and critics gave both series a lot of praise.

In 2016, he starred alongside co-stars Park Hyung Sik and Go Ara in KBS2'S historical drama Hwarang: The Beginning. The drama received high viewership numbers in its initial episodes after a high anticipation because of the actors slated to appear in the historical drama, but that high anticipation quickly faded after the release of the first few episodes and its viewership numbers quickly plummeted, critics were disappointed at the historical drama's poor plotting and pacing, and the music was heavily criticized.

Park Seo Joon came back on top once again with critics and audiences alike when he starred in 2017's slice of life romance Fight for My Way, the drama was highly successful with audiences and critics praised Park Seo Joon lead performance and chemistry with co-stars Kim Ji Won, Anh Jae Hong and Song Ha Yoon. In that same year, he appeared in his first leading role on the big screen in the action comedy film Midnight Runners, the film was a huge success at the box office and Park Seo Joon's performance alongside co-star Kang Ha Neul received a lot of praise.

He began to be dubbed by the South Korean press as the "master of romantic comedy" for his successful streak with his leading role in 2018's romantic comedy television series What's Wrong with Secretary Kim?. The television series was a huge success with audiences and critics. He is slated to appear in the action film The Divine Fury, it will be released in 2019.
