The murder case of Sudo Isao (Omi Toshinari), a used car dealer, occurred under the National highway overpass in Shizuoka Prefecture in 2008. While investigating Sudo, Kusaka Satoru (Koizumi Kotaro), a detective with the Shizuoka Prefectural Police, Fuji Susono Station, finds out that the young son, Obata Mamoru, who Sudo had with his divorced wife, died in a kidnapping incident in 1974. In 1988, one year before the statute of limitations for the kidnapping expired, a special investigation team was formed at the order of Shizuoka Prefectural Police Chief Hashibami Yasuhide (Takashima Masanobu). Six capable detectives led by Shigeto Seiichiro (Kamikawa Takaya), who reached the position of superintendent in spite of the fact that he was a non-career official, conducted a reinvestigation.

20 years later, Kusaka, who finds it suspicious that Sudo who lives in Tokyo was killed in Shizuoka, intuitively feels that probing into the child kidnapping-murder case of 1974 will lead to the resolution of Sudo’s murder. He goes to see Shigeto who had been away from the police for a while, and starts looking for clues to solve the case. Moreover, Kusaka also gets in touch with Obata Mamoru’s mother, Obata Saeko, and his sister, Obata Rie (Uchida Yuki), and gradually closes in on the real culprit…
