  • Episode 1

Motoko (Kobayashi Satomi) is dumbfounded when she learns her best friend and co-worker, Mariko (Koizumi Kyoko), has embezzled 300 million yen from the credit union they work at. Mariko disappears without a trace and Motoko just cannot understand her behavior. Meanwhile, there are only two tenants remaining at the lodging house "Happiness Sancha;" university professor Natsuko (Asaoka Ruriko) and struggling manga artist Kizuna (Tomosaka Rie). Yuka (Ichikawa Mikako), the manager of the lodging house, is desperate for new tenants...


  • Episode 2

When Motoko finds out her mother, Umeko (Shiraishi Kayoko) sold pictures of Mariko to a TV station, she angrily leaves the house and goes to stay at "Happiness Sancha." Meanwhile, Natsuko's former student, magazine editor Mamada (Takahashi Katsumi) comes to visit her. He brings along his daughter's ex-boyfriend, Kyouichi (Kaneko Takatoshi). Before long, Umeko learns Motoko's whereabouts and comes to get her, but Motoko insists that she wants to live at "Happiness Sancha" ...


  • Episode 3

Yuka sees a plastic container that Motoko has been collecting 100 yen coins in since junior high school. Her friend, who started saving at the same time, quickly spent all the coins on some art supplies she wanted, but Motoko kept her savings. Motoko finds out that friend is now a popular illustrator, and in a magazine article refers to Motoko as "the type of person who never advances in life." Full of frustration, Motoko vows to spend all of the coins and leaves the boarding house...


  • Episode 4

After throwing away her work uniform in a drunken stupor, Motoko plays hooky from the bank for the first time. Ikuzawa (Katagiri Hairi), a female detective, visits Motoko to further investigate Mariko's disappearance. Meanwhile, Kizuna has an argument with her editor, and vows to quit being a manga artist. She begins working at a family restaurant, where she unexpectedly runs into Kyouichi...


  • Episode 5

Yuka and the others make a commotion when they find out Kizuna's father is actually very wealthy and lives in a huge mansion. Motoko is asked to write an article entitled "About My Friend" for the company newsletter, and she chooses to write about Kizuna. She uses the keyword "rich girl" and only includes positive and unobtrusive details about her. However, Kizuna accidentally reads the article, and vehemently protests, telling Motoko she hasn't written the truth at all...


  • Episode 6

On the day of O-bon, Ken (Kashibara Shuuji), who was engaged to Kizuna's late twin sister, Yui, comes to visit. Ken tells Kizuna that before she died, Yui had planned to give up him, her job and leave home to elope with another man. Kizuna is shocked to hear that Yui had wished to live life on her own terms as well. At the same time, Motoko receives a phone call from Mariko, who begins to reminisce about a coffee shop they used to go to together...


  • Episode 7

Worried about Motoko, Umeko attends a lecture at the Culture Center, "How To Help Your Daughter Marry Quickly." Because of a recent call from Mariko, the wild "Singing Dog," native to Papua New Guinea, becomes a hot topic at the lodging house. Natsuko remembers a former assistant of hers, Yagita (Sasaki Eisuke) who studied those dogs.


  • Episode 8

After the results from Umeko's stomach examination are in, Motoko goes along with her to hear them. The doctor informs her that it is cancer. Even though they caught it in the very early stages, Motoko struggles with breaking the news to her mother. Meanwhile, Kyouichi shows up at the lodging house in a suit and announces he's found a full-time job. However, after he leaves, Mamada reveals the job is in Sapporo. Hearing this, Kizuna is frustrated that he didn't even properly say goodbye to her...


  • Episode 9

Umeko's surgery is successful, and Motoko visits her at the hospital, relieved. On the way home, she's approached for a TV street interview, "Where do you see yourself in 20 years?" Since that's usually her main worry, Motoko is dumbfounded when she can't come up with an answer! Meanwhile, Kizuna searches for Tsunayoshi, who's been gone from the house for quite some time...


  • Episode 10

Natsuko announces she's resigned from the university after knocking out the university director. She's decided to leave the house to travel by herself. Yuka, who has grown up always seeing Natsuko's face, is filled with sadness. After finding a message left for her by Mariko, Motoko leaves to go meet her. Meanwhile, after seeing off Kyouichi who returns to Sapporo, Kizuna is involved in a dangerous assault...
