Year of birth[edit]

Yan Ya Lun, unlike Wu Chun, had stated his year of birth. When he signed up for Sunny Boy Competition in 2004, the application stated he was born in 1985. He might have purposely over represented his age, similar to Hebe Tien for the Cruel Stage competition (which later formed the group S.H.E), in order to meet the age qualification. However, since there is no other official record to back up 1986 being the correct year of birth, we'll take his word and keep 1985 as the year of birth. Please provide your sources if you think differently. --WaterOB 10:59, 11 Jan 2007 (CST)

People read above!

If you have his birth certificate showing he was born in 1986, post it here (which I highly doubt you have). If you watched a show or read in a newspaper in which he or his parents stated he was born in 1986, pls give us the name of the show/newspaper and the date it was aired/published. --WaterOB 09:05, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

I'll take a super wild ass guess (SWAG) here... It is probable that the people thinking he was born in 1986 came to this conclusion based on age information that kept getting converted and converted again and again through fan-based channels. In most places throughout Asia, they state their age based on the age of reckoning rule. So I totally agree with WaterOB - you MUST provide proof that the artist or agency representing him mentioned his year of birth - AND NOT HIS AGE. This is even why I ban the use of placing the person's age in the article - not only does it change, but it can be mis-interpreted because of the age of reckoning. Groink 15:19, 23 May 2007 (CDT)
I also noticed that one of the editors claim that although his "legal" year is 1985, his parents say he was born in 1986. This is TOTALLY absurd! Tell me why one year is "legal" while his parents say otherwise? Keep in mind that throughout history, parents have a tendency of BS'ing about their kid's age, so that he can get into something that has an age limit. Little league baseball comes to mind... There was some kid who played for one of the Asian teams, and his parents fudged his birth certificate so that he appeared younger than he actually was. Therefore, the parents' claim of age or birthdate is not valid. Groink 15:24, 23 May 2007 (CDT)

Legal birthday is what one writes on an official document(s); it could or could not be his/her real birthdate (various reasons could be government errors/one's own purpose/late registration/etc that most likely cannot be changed--another celebrity whose legal birthday is not truly her own is Song Hye Kyo). I've seen a few shows such as 娛樂百分百 2/10/06 and 非常大明星 2/9/2007 featuring 飛輪海, with Ya Lun saying his birthdate is 11/20/1986. Sammienne

In that case, I'll change his DOB to 1986 since that was what he stated on the shows. --WaterOB 10:20, 28 May 2007 (CDT)
I don't under why people don't read discussion page. Here is another source stating he was born in 1986: Magazine FANS --WaterOB 16:04, 3 May 2008 (CDT)

Hi everyone, as of right now everything seems as hear say. I believe the best source to follow right now is what information his Talent Agency is stating as that's his official representation.
