Happiness Will Knock Again

From DramaWiki

Just a side note, I haven't seen the series, about Volker Helfrich's character name:

"Du Bei'er", if I translate that phonetically to German, it would mean "You Person from Bayern" (Bavaria). As in, someone would what call that to someone they don't know but suspect to be from Bavaria. Du would make for a lousy given name in German, cause it's the one word there is for "you" and it's the familiar form ("Sie" is the polite form). --Vylmen (talk) 05:25, 26 October 2020 (PDT)

Oh, sorry I got the pinyin wrong. It's Kan Bei Er (坎贝尔)

Well, that's a little less cruel - "kann" means "can" as in "you can do it". So he would've been bullied in school a lot and I haven't heard it in Germany as a name either. But I can't make anything else out of it the combination, until I hear it pronounced by himself. So I'll see if I can find it on a streaming service that's licensed for here. --Vylmen (talk) 05:46, 26 October 2020 (PDT)

I don't think its necessarily a German name. He could just be portraying an English man. I googled Kan Bei Er and it gave me the name Campbell.

Yes, I just realized that too :D --Vylmen (talk) 05:59, 26 October 2020 (PDT)
