Unlike most dramas, Love O2O does not succumb to overused cliches and plot devices,

Was this based on a general opinion at the time? I mean:

Idolization of rich male, which is of course tall and good looking
Females helplessly pining over males
Money and power as a measure of success and happiness
Reinforcement of traditional roles ("I'm here feeding you tigers, but your dad is bringing in the cash")
Main couple has a theme song that is played whenever they are alone together
When apart they look at the moon or stars at the same time at night (that's a universally overused cliche)
The mean step sister / unchallenged beauty type that thinks she's deserving of the male lead
Long flashbacks that highlight the progression of the relationship (aka plot device to add extra minutes)
Flashbacks shortly after the event, but now with analysis of the character (aka plot device to add extra minutes)
