Hatsumi Kitahara, a 26-years-old dental hygienist, lives with her father, Kyotaro, a career naval officer, and her grandmother, Hanako, who is retired. She is an average woman who thinks about having an average job, an average marriage, and wants to enjoy an average life. She has lived alone but her mother's death brought her back to home. However, Hatsumi and Kyotaro quarrel about trifles every day.

Hatsumi works at a dental clinic that Ryohei Noma runs. Her coworkers are all women. She hasn't met any men and one day Ryohei suddenly proposes marriage to Hatsumi. Another man, Keiichiro, an Internet and IT millionaire, asks her out for dinner; and during this time she sees an ex-boyfriend, Hajime, a drifter looking for his own path in life. This family dramedy centers aroung the father-daughter relationship in a humorous and touching way.
