Synopsis

The story takes place during the reign of Hong Taiji, the founder of Qing dynasty. He formed military alliances by marrying the daughters of powerful or wealthy clans. He first married Jerger of Mongol Borjigit clan. Then to solidify her clan’s support, he married her niece Dayu'er. However, it is Dayu’ers low status half-sister, Harjol, he favored above rest. His favoritism caused a rift between the women, in which Dayu’er poisoned her sister to make her barren. She also formed a secret alliance with his brother Dorgon to push her son to the throne over his elder son and other powerful brothers.
