Synopsis 1
This drama centers around a girl born in Okinawa. It depicts the importance of life and family through her growth into maturity.

Synopsis 2
The second bit of information I want to share with you is the new NHK morning drama serial (連続テレビ?説) Churasan (?ゅら?ん)?, which began airing in Japan on April 2nd of this year.

Churasan is filmed on location in Okinawa and stars Kuninaka Ryoko as the heroine Eri Kohagura and Tomi Taira (平良??) does double duty as narrator and stars as Eri's grandmother Hana Kohagura.  Other actors from Okinawa are DA PUMP's Shinobu Miyara (宮良?) and Garage Sale's (ガレッジセール) Gori (ゴリ).  The theme song is by a J-Pop duo who are also from Okinawa, Kiroro (キロロ), and the name of the song is "Best Friend? which will be released in Japan on June 6th from the Victor record label.

The rest of the cast is of big name actors and actresses from Japan (here are a few of them):

Masaaki Sakai (境正章) as Eri's father Keibun Kohagura, Yoshiko Tanaka (田中好?) as Eri's mother Katsuko Kohagura and Kenji Kohashi (?橋??) as Eri's love interest Fumiya Uemura.

The last big TV production NHK did on Okinawa was for the Taiga Drama (大河ドラマ) "Ryûkyû no Kaze (???風)?.  NHK's morning drama serials usually garner heavy ratings in Japan and are known for churning out upcoming actresses (i.e. Matsushima Nanako who is Japan's top female actress now).

Fans of "Churasan? rejoice! English-subtitled episodes of "Churasan 2? (six episodes) will begin airing on NGN (Nippon Golden Network) every Saturday at 8:30 pm. The first episode will air on Saturday, January 3rd and the cast is the same we've grown to love from the first series — look out for Nana (MAX) who is the waitress in the Okinawan diner. The theme song for the drama is by Kuninaka Ryoko (who plays the heroine Eri in this drama) and called "Ryûkyû Moon? (the song is written by O-pop artist Mamoru Miyagi).
